STATE MEDIA: POLICE FOIL ESCAPE BY ACCUSED MAN
A man who was being transported from the All Saints Magistrate’s Court jumped from the police vehicle but was quickly recaptured by officers who gave chase.
The incident happened about 11 Thursday morning in Herberts.
Police are now probing the circumstances which culminated in the attempted escape of the accused man.
A strong detachment of police officers converged on the scene in the aftermath of the incident.
This is the second such incident in recent days in which an accused individual has escaped while being transported by law enforcers.
Rickardo Bassawan who has been charged with aggravated robbery, also managed to escape last month while being transported to Her Majesty’s Prison.
He was recaptured within 24 hours and has since been sentenced for escaping lawful custody.
