The Election Commission today said the law ministry has not yet responded to their proposal of bringing an amendment to electoral law ignoring their repeated calls.
The EC said it has today sent the third and last letter to the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division requesting them to respond regarding the amendment proposal by December 15.

The commission in the letter reminded the division that, according to Article 126 of the Constitution, it shall be the duty of all executive authorities to assist the Election Commission in running its functions.
"The Election Commission believes that it will not be able to perform its duties if the requests and demands of the commission are ignored, violating the constitution," it said in the letter.
"This may raise unwanted doubts in the minds of people about the commission's ability and independence and the government's goodwill regarding election matters", the letter said.
On August 08, the EC sent the proposal for amendment of Representation of the People Order (RPO), 1972 to the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division. As the division did not respond, EC sent the first letter seeking an answer on September 28 and a second on October 10.
RPO is the law that regulates the election of members to the Jatiya Sangsad.
