A 40-year-old man has been charged and drugs and a prohibited firearms seized as part of a joint anti-gang enforcement project in Surrey.
Anti-gang units from Surrey RCMP and the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) B.C. were conducting patrols in the area of 104 Avenue and King George Blvd. on Sept. 10 when they saw a man they said acted suspiciously and tried to evade police.

The man was later arrested and found to be in possession of a bag containing an automatic AR-15 style rifle, a magazine containing armour-piercing rounds, and a rifle scope.
Police also seized 30 grams of fentanyl and six grams of methamphetamine.
Thomas Bourque, 40, was charged the next day with possession of a prohibited firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and carrying a prohibited weapon in a careless manner.
He remains in custody until his next court appearance Oct. 3.
He also faces other charges in court that day, including break and enter, possession of stolen property, and breach of release order stemming from an incident in May 2020 and possession of stolen property and driving while prohibited from an incident in Princeton in Aug. 2020.
