The Everything Pan is the newest product by Canadian cookware company Kilne. The company first launched in 2019 with a set of knives that we reviewed. Kilne was founded by Mike Gettis and partner Noelle Hjelte. Gettis also founded one of Canada’s favourite sleep companies, Endy (which, you guessed it, we reviewed both the mattress and Upholstered Bed Frame).

Gettis has a degree in computer engineering and business management, according to LinkedIn,  and Hjelte has a background in design and communications making for a power couple in the direct-to-consumer business. So far, Kilne has only produced high-quality products with beautiful designs.

This Everything Pan is fantastic. It’s a beautiful non-stick oven-safe pan with a lid. The name of the pan, however, is a bit interesting. It’s like if two trends, the Always Pan and everything bagel seasoning, had a baby and made a product name. I don’t love the name, but I love all other things (*refused to write “everything”) about it.

For context, the Always Pan launched in 2019 as a kitchen tool that has eight different uses (from a braiser to a boiler). It quickly earned the title of the “internet’s favourite pan,” as it was constantly sold out and highly in demand. This review is just of the Everything Pan, it’s not a comparison of the two pans because they are quite different from their aesthetics to their functions. My favourite things about the Everything Pan are its non-stick coating, its oven-safe and its appearance.

My experience

Cooking with the Everything Pan: I’ve used the pan for 30 days and it’s a treat. I like the dimensions (diameter is 11″ and height is 2.2″). It perfectly fits two slices of bread and an egg.

Speaking of eggs, that non-stick coating is no joke. It’s only been a month of testing, but this pan has made me a much better breakfast cook than I actually am. I seem to be like a sunny-side-over egg whisperer, with the egg pretty much levitating over the pan. The results are delish and the toast is completely toasted evenly.

The pan provides an overall even cook. I use a good-ol’-fashion electric coil stovetop and the pan does a good job of distributing the heat throughout the entire surface.

The lid is also convenient. It’s lined with little bumps designed for even-basting. Just make sure the knob is on tight before using it.

The pan’s aesthetics: I love the matte finish paired with the metallic handle and knob. The pan looks sleek and modern but traditional enough that it can go with many kitchen aesthetics. It’s a beautiful pan that lives full-time on my stovetop (aside from when it lives in my sink for too long).

My favourite feature: The look and use. I trialled the meringue colour. The inside of the pans are blue and I like the contrast between the white-ish colour and blue.

So far it’s a 10/10 cooking experience. All of the foods that I’ve cooked in it (including pancakes, french toast, proteins and stir fry) have turned out super delish. The pan heats up quickly and is easy to clean. After cooking, I let the pan cool down on the stove and then wash it by hand. Letting the pan cool first is supposed to increase the longevity of the non-stick coating.

I also love that the Everything Pan comes from a Canadian company.

My least favourite feature: The name – for two reasons. One is the Everything Pan looks nothing like the Always Pan and doesn’t copy any other aspect of it, so why mimic the name? The Everything Pan is a high-quality pan with a beautiful design. It’s totally its own thing. The other issue is when you type in “Everything Pan” into Google, the results are for the Always Pan. Our Place, the company behind the Always Pan, does a ton of marketing, so it may be a long journey for the Everything Pan to appear higher on Google’s results page. That said, the Everything Pan is new and fantastic, so hopefully, it will gain Google momentum.

Overall recommendation: If you’re comfortable with the $140 price point, then I recommend the pan. It’s nice to look at and easy to use. I like supporting Canadian companies that make high-quality products. Kilne’s products are thoughtfully designed and competitively priced.
