The club also reported that veteran defenceman Joel Edmundson is progressing from his rehab from a back injury but it remains undetermined when he might rejoin his teammates.

Both players were injured during a scrimmage collision last week before the official training camp started.
Suzuki was the only player on the Canadiens to play in all 82 games last season and he led the team in scoring with 21-40-61 totals. The Canadiens named Suzuki as their new captain at the team’s golf tournament on Sept. 12 and the 23-year-old centre is heading into the first season of an eight-year, US$63-million contract with an annual salary-cap hit of $7.875 million.
Edmundson was limited to 24 games last season because of a back injury.
The Canadiens will play their first of eight preseason games Monday night at the Bell Centre against the New Jersey Devils (7 p.m., TSN2, RDS, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM).

First cuts the deepest
The Canadiens announced their first cuts of training camp Monday morning after inviting 74 players to the camp.
Antoine Coulombe, Jared Davidson, Cédrick Guindon and Daniil Sobolev were the first players to be released from camp.
Dan Robertson now calling Jets games
Dan Robertson, the play-by-play voice for Canadiens games on TSN 690 Radio for the last eight seasons, has a new job now as the TV play-by-play voice for the Winnipeg Jets on TSN.
Robertson called his first Jets game Sunday night when Winnipeg lost 4-0 to the Edmonton Oilers.
Sean Campbell will replace Robertson as the play-by-play man on TSN 690 for the Canadiens’ game Monday night at the Bell Centre.
