Jose Ramirez got the go-ahead two-run double as the hosts Cleveland Guardians scored six two-out runs in the eighth inning to beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 on Wednesday.
Oscar Gonzalez also gave the Guardian his two points.
Guardian starter Cal his Quantrill allowed 4 runs and 5 hits in his 6 innings. Bryan Shaw (6-2) had one out to take the win.
Willie Castro hit a solo homer for Detroit.
Tigers starter Daniel Norris allowed only one run in five innings despite four hits, two walks, and three hitters.
Detroit's Harold Castro was dismissed in his fifth inning with a sore left thumb.
Cleveland leads with his third. Ramirez hit the ball on his 11th at-bat. Gonzalez then tore an RBI double into the right-center gap.
Detroit took the lead in the fourth after failing to get a runner in his first three innings. Riley Green and Victor Reyes walked and Javier Baez singled to load the bases. After a fielder's choice at home, Kelly Carpenter advanced all baserunners with a sacrifice fly in Reyes' scoring. An infield hit by Eric Haase hit Baez.
Detroit won 3–1, with Akhil Badoo singled in his fifth inning, Reyes two outs, and his double on his single.

Cleveland cut to 4-2 in the bottom of the inning against Jose Cisnero. Andrés Jiménez led with a double, advanced on a groundout and scored on Haase's passed ball.
A string of luck allowed the Guardian to take the lead in his eighth. With two outs Luke Maile swung for a strike three, but the ball bounced past Haase and Maile reached first. Miles slapped his straw single and Stephen his Kwan shot his RBI on the ground his double off Andrew Chafin (0-2) to cut the deficit to his 4-3.
Alex Lange replaced Chayfin with an infield hit to Amed his Rosario, and Ramirez brought in Kwan and Rosario with a double left. Gonzalez double knocks on Ramirez. Owen Miller closed things out with an RBI single.
