John Ivison: The benefit of suspicion abandons Justin Trudeau

The days when Canadians believe that Trudeau is a well-meaning person, even if he sometimes says "the right thing in the wrong way," are over. I'm telling you

Leaders Free-world people around the Bavarian Alps conference table It was gathered and one of them decided to make his own horse butt.

There is no prize to speculate that it was Boris Johnson who wondered if the G7 leaders should take off their clothes. "We are all here to show that we are tougher than (Vladimir) Putin," he told the gathered media.

This is a modus vivendi of the British Prime Minister. Like a child, he always tries to entertain the audience. His only redemption function is that he can entertain. "The chances of becoming prime minister are about the same as finding Elvis on Mars or being reborn as an olive," he once said famously.

But Justin Trudeau isn't interesting because his closest adviser told him over and over again. When Boris stood in the center of the stage and teased that it wasn't a laugh, the Prime Minister of Canada should have followed President Joe Biden's lead — quietly and squirming into his seat.

Instead, at a rally in August, he volunteered to "start an exhibition of naked breast riding," mocking Putin's preference for shirtless photography. Did.

Johnson was pleased that his conspirator was lethargic. "Please. Please. We must show them our pécs," he argued like a victim of an accident.

It was in the Washington Post on Monday under the heading "Johnson, Trudeau joked about being shirtless to threaten Putin with'our peck'." It was the way both men found themselves.

  1. Trudeau and Johnson imitate Putin riding a bare chest on the G7

  2. Kelly McPurland: Trudeau is a lucky scandal

{ I can't understand his words at 65} 65}

Apart from the richness of ridiculing someone for Trudeau's obsession with spins, it's both men (their privilege). It was a deep, non-serious moment that should be humiliated and embarrassing for their country (which is not).

European peace is at the end of the knife. NATO announced on Monday that it would increase its swift response to 300,000 people. Russia intensified its missile attacks on Ukraine before NATO was convened in Spain this week. This includes an attack on a shopping center in the central city of Kremenchuk, where as many as 1,000 people may have lived.

This is the time to send a message of unity, grit, and determination to the Russians, not to curse their leaders, no matter how disgusting he may be.

For Trudeau, it reminds us why he evolved into the most closely scripted politician. There was a time when he promised to do politics in another way. After being first elected in 2008, he lamented the end of the free-form debate between journalists and politicians that characterized his father's time. He engaged in long, rambling interviews that could sacrifice message discipline for openness.

He learned the difficult way that being available and candid is a career-restricting move for aspiring politicians.

While appearing on the Quebec talk show Toutlemonde en parle in 2014, he was asked if Canada should do more in Ukraine, where the Russians invaded Crimea. The new liberal leader said he was worried about the situation as the Russian hockey team had just lost a medal at the Winter Olympics. "And they will feel sick." Trudeau was forced to visit the Ukrainian embassy to apologize to the ambassador.

Shortly thereafter, he opposed the Harper government's commitment to the war with ISIS, saying that Canada should focus on humanitarian aid. They are big. ”—Improvisation in different colors, adding the impression that they weren't as serious as becoming prime minister during the war.

Trudeau overcame these storms and, worse (you can forget to travel to India), several Canadians benefited him of suspicion, Because he believed he was a healthy person. -Even if one adviser says "the right thing is the wrong way", it is intended.

However, a series of warning signs suggest that voters are more malicious than Trudeau's recent actions.

High inflation, rising interest rates, and the apparent disruption of the federal government's ability to provide the most basic services did not help.

However, more Canadians are skeptical of the prime minister's integrity due to the tendency of this government to move forward, often fluctuate consciences, and then rationalize.

Former Justice Minister Jody Wilson Raybold is angry with Trudeau for convincing himself that he is a good and honest person. He is not alone when he says. He casually lied to the masses and would think he could escape with it.

A new AbacusData poll shows that the Tordo government's approval rate has declined in recent months, and liberals are now conservative with the intention of voting nationwide, including Ontario and British Columbia. It suggests that we are lagging behind.

However, the prime minister's own impression is also on the decline.

A poll at the Angus Reid Institute, also conducted on Monday, further exacerbated the reading of liberal leaders. 38% of respondents agree with his work, while 59% disagree. This is the worst number since 2019 when we were involved in the SNC La Balance Candal. Liberal supporters are still supporters, but Trudeau no longer holds a majority of approvals from NDP supporters, a key component of the Central Left election coalition that has placed him in power.

In my 2019 book on Trudeau, I conclude that the day will come when he will be demoted, just like the promoted one.

All evidence shows the fact that the day is approaching, even if it hasn't actually arrived yet.
