Kasperi Kapanen notched his second career hat trick to help the Pittsburgh Penguins top the visiting St. Louis Blues 6-2 on Saturday.

Bryan Rust added a goal and three assists, Jason Zucker a goal and two assists, Sidney Crosby a goal and Evgeni Malkin three assists for the Penguins, who have points in 11 of 13 games (9-2-2). Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry made 26 saves.

Pavel Buchnevich and Vladimir Tarasenko scored and Colton Parayko had two assists for the Blues, who have lost three straight and five of six.

St. Louis goaltender Jordan Binnington gave up four goals on 17 shots before being pulled. Thomas Greiss relieved and made 19 saves.

Wild 5, Ducks 4 (SO)

Kirill Kaprizov scored the tying goal late in the third period and tallied in the shootout as Minnesota continued its dominance of visiting Anaheim with a win in Saint Paul, Minn.

Kaprizov extended his point streak to 11 games for the Wild, who won a season-high third straight. Kaprizov has seven goals and 18 points in the last 11 games for the Wild, who have won five of the last six overall and 12 in a row versus Anaheim.

Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras each had a goal with an assist for the Ducks, who earned their league-low 15th point but are mired in an 0-3-2 slide. Anaheim is also amid an 0-5-1 road rut.

Golden Knights 4, Red Wings 1

Adin Hill stopped 24 shots and Phil Kessel had a goal and an assist to lead Vegas to a road win over Detroit.

Jack Eichel, Jonathan Marchessault and Reilly Smith each scored for the Golden Knights, who are 2-1 on a four-game road trip against Eastern Conference opponents.

Oskar Sundqvist scored the only goal of the game for Detroit, which lost its third straight game. Ville Husso made 21 saves for the Red Wings.

Devils 3, Flyers 2

Fabian Zetterlund, Dawson Mercer and Jack Hughes each scored one goal to lift New Jersey over host Philadelphia.

Miles Wood contributed two assists for the Devils, who extended their road winning streak to 11 to set a franchise record. The Devils lost their season-opening road game at Philadelphia but have since improved to 11-1-0. Akira Schmid made 31 saves.

Travis Konecny and Lukas Sedlak each scored one goal for the Flyers, who have lost two straight. Goaltender Carter Hart stopped 15 shots. Philadelphia pulled Hart for the final 2:08 and nearly tied the game in the final few seconds, but still came up just short.

Lightning 4, Maple Leafs 3 (OT)

Alex Killorn scored 33 seconds into overtime as Tampa Bay opened its season-long six-game homestand by beating Toronto.

Following a turnover by Auston Matthews, Killorn finished a pass from Anthony Cirelli, snapping home his sixth career overtime winner and eighth goal this season. Vladislav Namestnikov, Nikita Kucherov and Ross Colton scored as the Lightning won for the eighth time in 10 games. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 36 saves and Corey Perry had two assists.

Toronto’s Mitch Marner scored twice to set a club record with 19th straight games with a point. William Nylander also tallied, and goalie Matt Murray stopped 29 shots in the team’s first loss in six games.

Oilers 5, Canadiens 3

Connor McDavid had two goals and two assists and Leon Draisaitl added a goal and three assists as host Edmonton defeated Montreal.

Edmonton dissected Montreal on the power play and scored three times with the man advantage. Stuart Skinner made 30 saves for the Oilers. It was a statement start for Skinner, who has now seemingly supplanted Jack Campbell as the starting goalie, a development that comes after the Oilers signed the latter to a large five-year contract.

Nick Suzuki, Evgenii Dadonov and Arber Xhekaj scored, and Jake Allen made 17 saves for the Canadiens.

Bruins 5, Avalanche 1

David Pastrnak and Trent Frederic each scored twice as the host Bruins cruised past the Avalanche.

The Bruins tallied twice in the first period, once in the second and twice more within 10 seconds in the third to nab their third straight win and improve to 14-0-0 at home this season. The 20-3-0 Bruins also matched the NHL record for fewest games to the 20-win mark in a season.

Jake DeBrusk capped the third-period scoring with his 100th NHL goal, and Charlie McAvoy added two assists for the Bruins. Linus Ullmark made 25 saves, improving to 14-1-0.

Senators 5, Sharks 2

Claude Giroux had two goals and an assist to lead Ottawa to a win over visiting San Jose.

Tim Stutzle had a goal and an assist for the Senators, who have won four of their past five games. Brady Tkachuk scored his fifth goal in his past five games and Thomas Chabot also scored. Anton Forsberg made 35 saves.

Tomas Hertl scored twice for the Sharks, who have lost five of six (1-4-1). Kaapo Kahkonen made 34 saves. Hertl has four goals in his past three games. The Senators went 3-for-5 on the power play, while the Sharks were 1-for-4. Ottawa didn’t take its first lead of the game until the 16:40 mark of the second thanks to Stutzle’s goal.

Blackhawks 5, Rangers 2

Patrick Kane collected a goal and two assists and became the 50th player in NHL history to reach 1,200 career points as visiting Chicago stopped an eight-game losing streak with a victory over New York.

Kane joined Hall of Famer Stan Mikita as the second Blackhawks player to reach the milestone. He began his three-point game by getting Chicago’s first power-play goal before assisting on power-play tallies by Max Domi and Taylor Raddysh. Domi added an empty-net goal in the final minute to cap his own three-point night.

Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider scored power-play goals for the Rangers, who hit four goal posts, lost their fourth straight home game and dropped their home record to 4-6-4.

Flames 5, Capitals 2

Adam Ruzicka scored once in a three-point game and Andrew Mangiapane tallied twice to lead host Calgary to a victory over Washington.

Blake Coleman and Elias Lindholm also scored for the Flames, who have won two of three games while trying to get their season on track. Goaltender Dan Vladar made 27 saves and Mikael Backlund collected three assists.

Conor Sheary and John Carlson scored for the Capitals, who have lost two straight and have just one victory (1-2-1) through four outings in a six-game road swing.

Panthers 5, Kraken 1

Carter Verhaeghe scored twice and Sam Bennett had three assists as Florida defeated host Seattle, ending the Kraken’s franchise-record seven-game winning streak.

Matthew Tkachuk added a goal and an assist as the Panthers’ top line combined for seven points. Aleksi Heponiemi and Gustav Forsling also scored, and Florida goaltender Spencer Knight made 35 saves.

Jared McCann scored for Seattle and Philipp Grubauer stopped 23 of 28 shots.

Canucks 3, Coyotes 2 (OT)

Bo Horvat scored two goals, including the game-winner on a four-on-three power play with 51 seconds remaining in overtime, to give Vancouver a victory over visiting Arizona.

With Clayton Keller in the box due to too many men on the ice, Quinn Hughes blasted a slap shot from the point that Horvat deflected past the glove of Arizona goaltender Karel Vejmelka for his 19th goal of the season.

Brock Boeser also scored a goal and Elias Pettersson and Hughes each had two assists for Vancouver, which snapped a three-game home losing streak. Spencer Martin stopped 21 of 23 shots.

Hurricanes 4, Kings 2

Martin Necas had a goal and an assist as visiting Carolina defeated Los Angeles.

Brady Skjei, Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov also scored, Brent Burns had two assists, and Pyotr Kochetkov made 31 saves for the Hurricanes, who have won four in a row.

Samuel Fagemo scored his first NHL goal, Arthur Kaliyev also scored, and Jonathan Quick made 27 saves for the Kings, who have lost six straight against the Hurricanes, getting outscored 24-8 in those games.
