Columbia, South Carolina (AP) — Voters have voted in many contests over the middle of the turbulent primary. Candidates who claim to best represent the continuation of the policies endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

While not on the ballot, Trump has played a role in several races, and candidates have met his support and various election results. There were also falls by some incumbents. Some were taken up by Trump-backed challengers, and others were defeated by fellow representatives in a confrontation forced by the constituency change.

Here's what happened in the national primaries so far:

Incumbents

Eight incumbents (3 Democrats and 5 Republicans) have lost the United States. After losing in the primary, he is already in the House of Representatives this year.

Four of these losses occurred in incumbent races as a result of the once-in-a-decade constituency change process. However, the other four were defeated by the rebel challenger after discovering that they were vulnerable as a result of scandals, investigations, exciting progressives, or beyond Trump.

Oregon's 7th Democratic Party of Japan Kurt Schrader fell to progressive challenger Jamie McLeodskinner in the May 17 primary. Schroeder did not support the increase in the minimum wage, so he offended many Democrats by opposing some of President Joe Biden's priorities, such as the $ 1.9 trillion coronavirus pandemic bailout bill.

North Carolina Republican Madison Cawthorn said he was invited to a cocaine-fueled orgy, after a scandal whirlwind involving Cocaine, Senator Chuck Edwards. Lost to. He appears twice with a gun at the airport in a video showing him in a pose that suggests sexuality.

On June 14, South Carolina 5th Republican Tom Rice was re-elected to Russellfly State Parliament after voting to blame Trump for the January 6 riots in the Capitol. Lost the bid. And on June 28, six-term Mississippi Republican Stephen Palazzo lost his escape to sheriff Mike Ezel after being accused of parliamentary ethical reports on delinquent election funds.

MEMBER-ON-MEMBER FACEOFFS

The constituency change has guaranteed the expulsion of some US House of Representatives incumbents.

The first to fall was West Virginia Republican David McKinley, who voted for Democrats in support of Biden's $ 1.2 trillion infrastructure bill and West. Virginia citizens bet that they would reward him by giving priority to such funds. It is one of the poorest states in the country. Instead, they abandoned him for Congressman Alex Mooney, who opposed the infrastructure bill. Mooney won Trump's support on the day Biden signed the bill.

In Georgia, Democrat Lucy McBath, a gun safety advocate, went shopping in the district after a Republican-controlled state legislature changed her hometown to a Republican home. rice field. She defeated Democratic Rep. Carolyn Bourdeaux, who said she thought of Macbus as her "sister."

Two Illinois when Republican Rep. Mary Miller defeated Republican Rep. Rodney Davis and Democratic Rep. Sean Casten defeated Democratic Party Rep. Marie Newman last week. An incumbent in the state lost his seat.

Miller won a few days after calling the Supreme Court's ruling overturning the Roe v. Wade case at a rally with Trump. Miller miss-poked, her spokesman said.

Trump's Goal

Even after losing to Biden in the 2020 presidential election, Trump vowed revenge on Republicans against him.

He focused on Georgia and recruited challengers to Governor Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Rafensperger, who rejected his efforts to overturn his narrow defeat in the state. .. However, Kemp easily turned back former Senator David Padew, and Rafence defeated Congressman Jody Heiss, who was missing.

Trump also angered 10 Republicans who voted for the Democrats to impeach his role in the January 6 riots. The four objected to seeking reelection.

But among those who continued to fight, Rice lost first. The result he admitted was possible in a vote he said that his conscience had to take to him. Another California lawmaker, David Valadao, finished second in the primary. In short, he advanced to the November general election as one of the top two.

Four Republicans are still waiting for the primary.

In South Carolina, Trump targeted another Republican incumbent. Nancy Mace follows criticism of his role in the January 6 attack and a vote to prove Biden's victory. Mace endured a challenge from Trump-backed enemy Katie Allington.

Trump: Maintaining Scores

Trump helped some US Senator candidates win. In Ohio, he favored "Hillbilly Elegy" writer JD Vance after Vance's enemies pushed hard to win Trump's support. With support just three weeks before the election, Vance won.

Dr. Mehmet Oz received Trump approval about five weeks before the Pennsylvania Primary. This hit former hedge fund CEO David McCormick. Oz won a slight victory over McCormick after recounting.

In North Carolina, Trump upheld Ted Budd a year before the primary and took a lesser-known member of the House from 14 candidates to win a Republican Senate nomination. I was promoted.

Trump also participated in state-wide races and primaries George P. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Supported against Bush. Mr. Trump rewarded Paxton for petitioning the US Supreme Court to overturn the 2020 elections.

Katie Britt almost won the Republican primary on behalf of his boss and retired Alabama Senator Richard Shelby, but Trump's first long-standing Mo Brooks・ It ended with a breakup with Congressman Brooks. Brooks' vote declined, drawing his support. Trump supported Brit only after she first finished in Primary.

Nebraska Republican voters have rejected Trump's election for governor. Businessman Charles Herbstar was accused of seeking multiple women later in the campaign and instead chose Regent Jim Pillen of the University of Nebraska as a candidate. In the US House of Commons elections in Georgia, GOP voters chose truck company owner Mike Collins over Vernon Jones, who turned from a Trump-backed Democrat to a Republican.

Election contestants

Voters primaries for some candidates who upheld Trump's lie that winning Biden's elections is illegal Handed over the victory. These false allegations were totally rejected by the courts, including the election authorities, Trump's own Attorney General, and the judge he appointed.

Nevertheless, State Senator Dagmas Triano won the crowded Republican primary in Pennsylvania. He was summoned by a House committee investigating an attack on the U.S. Capitol about his role in planning to arrange an "alternative" slate for voters from Pennsylvania after the 2020 elections for Trump. rice field.

Nevada Secretary of State, former state legislator Jim Marchant, claims that Trump's victory has been stolen after years of no legitimate Nevada elections. And won the primary election.

In Idaho, Lieutenant Janice McGeetin, a candidate for the Trump rebellion, lost her bid to expel Governor Brad Little. McGeachin said, without quoting any contradictions, "bringing integrity to Idaho's elections." She also said she would promote court audits in 50 states in the 2020 elections.

In Colorado, Republican voters are more candidates for Secretary of State than Tina Peters, the indicted county clerk who has become nationally famous for promoting conspiracy theories about voting machines. I chose Pam Anderson. Anderson promised to keep politics out of elections, but Peters was charged with seven felony charges accusing her of participating in a "deceptive plan" to violate voting system technology.

LOOK AHEAD

The primaries resumed in earnest in August, and the number of races to watch has not yet been determined.

Rep. Liz Cheney voted to impeach Trump and became vice chairman of the House of Representatives investigating the parliamentary riots on August 16th. Faces the toughest major challenges in Wyoming. Trump favored Harriet Hagueman in the race.

In Arizona, in one of Biden's five fierce battle states, the former president approved a slate of supporters to facilitate his false election allegations. In the Governor's election, he supported former television newscaster Calilake with developer Carlin Taylor Robson to replace Republican Governor Doug Duchy, who resisted the pressure of Trump's election year and was banned from another term.

In a race in the Senate of Arizona, Trump will help investors Blake Masters in November to nominate a Republican to confront Democratic incumbent Mark Kelly. "I think Trump won in 2020," the Masters said, supporting the unfounded "great alternative" conspiracy theory. This is a racist ideology in which whites and their influence are being replaced by colored races.

And in Arizona's Secretary of State, Trump was filmed outside the Capitol on January 6, 2021 and worked to overturn Trump's 2020 defeat. In support of State Assembly member Mark Finchem.

In Michigan, one of the country's most fierce battle states, Republicans faced frustration in November trying to defeat Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Five Republican candidates were unable to qualify as primary on August 2, after submitting fake signatures collected by a paid petition circulator. Another candidate, Republican Ryan Kelly, was charged last month with a misdemeanor associated with the January 6 attack.

Founding Republicans are concerned that the US Senate in Missouri will hold a Republican primary on August 2. And whether he sent a black email to the woman talking about their out-of-marriage case. Some Republicans fear that Greatens could be a weak general election candidate who could give up a safe seat to the Democrats.
