A 20-year-old woman was reported missing in Vancouver's downtown Eastside this spring. Police said Saturday she died of fentanyl poisoning.
Body found in Richmond in May reported missing. A 20-year-old woman, identified as Tatiana Harrison, from Vancouver's downtown Eastside this spring.
Vancouver Police released information on Saturday, saying she died of fentanyl poisoning. It's heartbreaking news for everyone who was in the area, and for the many strangers who gathered to look for her when she disappeared," said Konst. Tania Bicintin, a spokesperson for the Vancouver Police Department.
"While we are now able to provide some answers, many questions remain and we will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Tatiana's disappearance."
Harrison was reported missing by his mother, Natasha Harrison, on May 3, after disappearing since the end of March.
VPD investigators believe Harrison, who police described as a 20-year-old Aboriginal woman, moved to Vancouver from Surrey weeks before she disappeared.
She last texted her message to her mother on her March 24th from somewhere on her East Side downtown. She is downtown on the East Side and appeals to anyone with information about her disappearance to come forward.
According to Visintin, the BC Cororners Service notified police on Friday that her body found May 2 in Richmond had been identified.
"Unfortunately, Tatiana is now believed to have died in another city before being reported missing," she said Visintin.
The coroner's office notified police that Harrison had died from her drug addiction, specifically fentanyl, she added.
