Due to the
pandemic,Saskatoon Valkyriesis no longer operating as the most dominant franchise of the Western Women's Canadian Football League.
But after spending two years without a league match, Valkyrie is back and better than ever. The
team set a perfect 6-0 record in the regular season and playoffs and qualified for the League Championship Game on Saturday. The team is about to win the seventh title in the league record.
"It's really exciting," admitted head coach Pat Barry. "You are looking forward to the championship game at home at these moments. It's pretty special. It can't get any better than that."
"I don't know what to expect." Added defensive back Makhaira Saider. "But we've already played them, so we're a bit under the belt, but it's going to be a very fun game."

"Expectations are definitely rising "I'm doing it," said Emmarae Dale, a veteran linebacker. "We are very excited to be ready to take action soon after the year of COVID."
Valkyries is the most decorated team in the league. Not someone who doesn't know to play at their best when their stakes are highest. However, this year's title match presents challenges that most players on the team have never faced.
Playing for the championship in their home field is something the franchise hasn't done for eight years.
"2014 is the first year in the club, so it's been a while," Barry recalls. "It's very exciting to have a chance to win the last soccer match. (It's) very rare."
"The word you used was" perfect. " It's electricity, "Dale echoed. "I think it's definitely special to have the opportunity to stay home and have all my friends and family here, because I've only been out when (winning)."

But Fearless has been undefeated since the defeat of the season opener, and Valkyrie has not downplayed them. ..
"We can't ignore the growth this season. They're definitely a strong team and probably the strongest team in the last few years," Dale said.
"(Week 1) I found that they were a very talented team and played for 60 minutes," Barry added. “We are sure they have a very talented player and are ready.”
Kickoff is set at 7pm. Saturday at the SMF field.
