Allen, Ky. — Three law enforcement officers were killed, and officials said a man with a rifle fired at police in an attempt to serve Warrant in eastern Kentucky, injuring five.
Police detained 49-year-old Reimstorz late Thursday night after being stuck for an hour at Allen's house, a small town on the hills of Appalachia.
According to the arrest quote, the emergency officer was also injured and the police dog was killed.
Upon arriving at the scene, the corresponding police officer encountered "pure hell," Floyd County Security Officer John Hunt told reporters Friday afternoon.
"They didn't have a chance," he said.
Hunt said the four agents responded first and asked for backup when they were shot. Security officials said Storz surrendered after negotiations involving his family. Hunt told local media Thursday night that his agent had provided a court-issued decree in connection with the domestic violence.
Hunt said one of his agents, William Petrie and Prestonsburg Police Captain Ralph Frazier, had been shot dead. Frasure worked for a law enforcement agency in Floyd County for 39 years. Another Prestonsburg officer, Jacob Chaffins, died after admission, police said in a social media post on Friday night.
Storz was arranged by a judge in Pike County on Friday morning. He pleaded guilty to two counts of police killings and was imprisoned for $ 10 million in bonds. One of the charges was originally an attempted killing of a police officer, but the judge said at a hearing that he was promoted to murder. He also faces another alleged murder and an assault on military animals.
Few details were available on Friday. State police said in a short statement that they were investigating a shooting involving police officers.
"This is a tough morning for our federation," Governor Andy Bescher said in a social media post on Friday morning. "Floyd County and our brave first responder suffered a tragic loss last night. I want everyone in Kentucky to pray with me for this community."
Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron posted on social media that the news of the death of an officer was traumatic.
"Our law enforcement agencies showed unimaginable heroism and sacrifice in the face of evil last night," he said.
