Some of the PGA Tour's top stars were on Tuesday night. A meeting that included Tiger Woods, who said he left the player, calibrated over the future of their tour amid growing threats of the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

BMW Championship was set to begin Thursday morning in Wilmington, Delaware, so much of the buzz around Wilmington Country Club has rather focused on that meeting and the ongoing feud between the dueling golf circuits. . Better than Game 2 of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Woods, who hasn't been on the field this week and has played sparingly since a car accident in February 2021, has been candid about his loyalty to the PGA Tour. Past major winners Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau.

Woods spoke about the importance of legacy last month before the start of the British Open at the Old Course in St. Andrews. Woods' close friend Justin Thomas provided a little insight into the importance of the 15-time major champion traveling to Delaware to meet with some of the tour's key players at a hotel in Wilmington Wednesday morning.

"I don't think it's offensive to all of us if someone like him is passionate about it, but that's what really matters." said Thomas. "If he's not behind something, one is probably not a good idea in terms of improving the game, but two is it's not going to work. He has to be behind something.

"For many of us, I think he was a great protagonist in many ways of the game." He did not give details of what was discussed at the closed meeting, but said the conversation focused on what was best for PGA Tour players given the outrageous offers the LIV was offering. Amount of money to lure a star.

Rory McIlroy, another four-time major winner and vocal supporter of his controversial battle with the PGA Tour and his LIV, said the conference was a sporting event. indicated that it provided a respite from conflict.

"I think the goal was to have all the top players on this tour agree and agree on where we should go. It's been great." said McIlroy.

According to The Telegraph, Cameron Smith is among the players to watch for LIV. The world number two and winner of the British Open withdrew from the BMW Championship on Monday, two days after receiving a two-stroke penalty at the St. Jude Championship, the first of three events in the FedEx Cup playoffs. 64}

As tensions between tours escalate, Wednesday's players said Woods, 46, is in the game or not. He said he continues to play an irreplaceable role on the tour.

"I mean, he's a hero that we all look up to," said McIlroy, who ranks third in the world and ninth in his Cup standings at FedEx. “His voice reaches farther than anyone else in the world of golf. His role is to lead us to where we all think it should be.

” I think he came because it was very important to him," said Thomas, who is ranked seventh in the world and 10th in the FedEx Cup standings. “Perhaps he didn't feel it was appropriate to do it on Zoom or call him. I think it shows that it's paving the way for younger players to come in. Down the road.

Federal Judges have announced that LIV golfers Talrah Gooch, Matt Jones, A week after ruling against Hudson Swafford's bid, a meeting unfolded that also included Rickie Fowler, who took Woods to Delaware to help them qualify for the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Although the trio had scored enough points to qualify for the playoffs, LIV, a Saudi-backed series linked to Mohammed bin Salman Saudi Arabia's crown prince approved plans to kill journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, according to U.S. intelligence officials.

83} Eleven players on the LIV circuit, including DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson, filed antitrust lawsuits against the PGA Tour earlier this month, challenging their suspensions, alleging that the PGA TOUR would not be allowed to compete in the LIV tournament. Not only did they threaten golfers who attempted to play at LIV Golf Events, but they also "blackmailed sponsors, vendors and agents into coercing players into giving up the opportunity to play at LIV golf events."

On Tuesday, LIV defector Patrick Reed filed a defamation lawsuit against television commentator Blundell Chambry, alleging comments from a Golf Channel analyst. When the latest signs of inter-circuit feud surfaced, it hurt him financially and his family emotionally.

The two of them, at least in January 2020, said a lawyer representing his PGA Tour player at the time repeated accusations that Reed cheated on him in 2019. They have been at odds since they sent Chambry a cease and desist letter demanding that Chambry stop working. Hero World Challenge, an unofficial event in the Bahamas hosted by Woods. It was an ugly headline for many sports this season.

When asked about the resolution of the saga between the PGA Tour and his LIV, "It's definitely broken right now," said the world's sixth-ranked player in the FedEx Cup standings. His Xander Schauffele, the sixth ranked player, said. "Yeah, we're right in the middle of it. A calm and peaceful way will do the trick."
