Torn Peck ends Argos RB Andrew Harris' season, potentially his career

Toronto Argonauts Quarterback McLeod Bethel-Thompson hands the ball to running back Andrew Harris during the second half of CFL Football against the Hamilton Tiger Cats on August 6, 2022 in Toronto. Andrew Harris underwent surgery for a torn chest. I decided to take it. ending his season and potentially his career.

Two Grays for a future Hall of Famer who, after winning his title, left his hometown team Winnipeg to join Argos on a freelance basis in his agency. , this is a cruel blow.

Harris hurt his chest at Hamilton last Friday night. Argos head coach Ryan Dinwiddie realized there was a serious problem with Harris when he was about to walk off the field.

An MRI revealed a small tear in him. A second opinion was sought from Harris' Winnipeg-based surgeon, who had his MRI from Argos.

Two options were considered. One was his 4-6 week absence and the other he opted for surgery.

"He is going to have surgery," said Dinwiddie. "He's going to be out later this year."

Harris, 35, was in practice Wednesday. Argos plans to reveal Harris to the media on Thursday. He plans to go under the knife next Tuesday.

In his eighth game of double blues, Harris posted his 100-yard rush his game twice. He became the first Canadian to reach his 10,000 career rushing yards when Harris led the Argos to a win over the host Riders.

It's his three-time cup his champion vintage his performance and fellow gray his cup MVP Chad his Argos best running his back since his cuckoo days one of his performances. Kakerto was sidelined with his ankle injury and when he returned he was not the same as before.

Most recently, James Wilder emerged as the game's breaker, leading Argos to the club's latest title, his 2017 championship.

Pass Happy CFL also needs to establish a run his game. Harris brought the physical element, professionalism and leadership.

When Harris came to Argos in free agency, he never considered season-ending surgery. He did not play for Winnipeg this season because schedule makers did not let Argos visit Peg.

He played against his former team on his BMO field early in the season, running over 100 yards and breaking a tackle. Argos lost the game by one point due to a missed conversion in the second half.

Last week at Steeltown, Dinwiddie noticed Harris reaching for his chest near midfield.

"I saw him grab his chest. Normally when you see a peck injury, it's not good," said Dinwiddie. I was hoping it was a small tear and that he could rehabilitate it. , Harris was tackled to the ground.

"And he doesn't even know how (the injury) happened," added Dinwiddie. ``Extraordinary injury''

Harris missed seven of his games last season.

Like-minded players step up big for big moments on the game's biggest stages.

In the West final against Saskatchewan, Harris had 136 yards and 1 TD and he rushed 23 times. In the Gray Cup against Tikats in Hamilton, Harris produced 80 rushing yards on 18 attempts.

And now, with the same Tim on his Hortons field, Harris played his final game in 2022.

The soccer player has returned to full health from a torn pectoral muscle.

Given his age and the body of work he's put together, it's up to Harris to decide whether to return next season, which marks his 13th season in the CFL.

In his eight games as Argo, Harris has run for 490 yards in his 114 attempts and 180 for 180 yards. He added 23 receptions. Although he had no touchdowns, Harris had a two-point conversion two weeks earlier in Toronto's comeback win over the Tikats at BMO.

All Argos can do after Harris' injury is the Next Man Up philosophy.

Third Grade Argo A.J. Ouellette is next on the depth chart, explosive and physical American.

Ratio does not require ratio change.

Canadian newcomer Ben Adeboboy is backing up.

"We talk about injuries all the time," added Dinwiddie, whose team is plagued by the injury bug. "The next guy. That's the only way you can handle it.

"He [Harris] will be there. Stay positive. He still has influence." But they won't be able to help us on the football field."

For the 4-4 Argos, who will be hosting this Saturday night in Calgary, football life will be difficult without Harris. prize.

"It's hard," he added Dinwiddie.

"But I have a lot of faith in A.J., who played well last week. And the reality is he plays better every time he comes out on the field.I will miss Andrew, but I will bring A.J. to the table.

FINGERS CROSS(ED) {111

Veteran fullback/h-back Declan Cross is the ultimate pro, dealing with leg injuries.

Mac alumni Cross and fellow predator Tommy Nield (ankle ) were both injured last week, and Nield is definitely out this week, probably more than that. By the sound of it, Dinwiddie isn't optimistic.

"I don't know, but I don't see him playing this week," Dinwiddie added.
