Two men were stabbed during a fight that escalated Wednesday night in the Mercier—Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough of Montreal, police said Wednesday evening.

When officers arrived, they found two men in their 30s who were conscious and had upper-body injuries from a sharp object,” Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said.
Both men were taken to hospital. The severity of their injuries was not immediately clear.
“According to initial reports, an argument escalated between the two men and they stabbed each other,” Chèvrefils said.
A security perimeter was set up and forensic technicians were on the scene to try to determine exactly what happened.
The investigation is ongoing.
