Warmington: Police investigate murder at historic Streetville home

The murder scene was one of Streetsville's most famous and historic homes.

This police call shook not just the normally quiet streets, but the entire village.

In Streetsville, secrets don't last long. People find this community in northwest Mississauga to have police vehicles and a large contingent of officers.

"Streetsville is a quiet place where people know each other and say 'Hello,'" said Malcolm Bayard, former president of the Streetsville Historical Society.

The day was not quiet.

"A man and a woman were found dead in the residence," said Peel District Police Const. Mandeep Katra.

Police say they are investigating this as a homicide. Whether it was one or two murders has not yet been made clear to the public.

This turbulent day in his 175-year town's history will soon come upon Khatra's 25 Princess St., an old brick house just next to his Go station at number 100. "This house was built by William Couse, who ran a clover seed business right by the railroad tracks," Byard said. "He was one of Streetsville's most prominent citizens."

Some 112 years after the house was built, the house was converted to apartments and opened in Streetsville on Tuesday. A rare murder has occurred. Witnesses said police were present at the request of her one of the couple's children who lived there.
