Warmington: Peterborough mayor drops F-bomb after protesters try to arrest police

Call her her F-Bomb Mayor .

But Peterborough Mayor Diane Therrien isn't shy about how she feels about people bringing demonstrations into her city. She was particularly blasphemous about a group of people who strangely go to Peterborough Police Station to arrest the police. I didn't expect the oath to be taken.

Needless to say, things got dicey on Saturday's wild scene. A brawl broke out and the two were physically knocked over as police worried they were getting too close to the car. Police Chief Tim Farquharson said more arrests were likely, adding that another person was suspected of trying to kick in the station door.

It all stems from a visit in her RV by Romana Diduro, a mysterious activist from British Her Columbia, nicknamed the "Queen of Canada." She is protesting the government's COVID-19 her vaccine policy.

"Someone is funding these protests because it costs money to move from town to town," said a local politician who wished to remain anonymous. . "Well organized."

Now a believer went to the police station and openly said he would arrest the police. 

It didn't work. Her Therrien, who is not running for re-election in October, did not hesitate.

"People are asking me to comment on what happened last weekend on #ptbo,"she tweeted on Tuesday. "I hate airtime/spotlight on these idiots. Here's my comment: F—off, you f—wad.

The debate continues. There's no argument that this isn't the first time her adoration has shown her salty side. The mayor was clear about the "freedom" protests planned in Peterborough by Canadian Populist Party leader Maxime Vernier.

"Hey @randyhillier @MaximeBernier, I know you guys are boring." The mayortweeted, adding a picture of himself and saying "Stay TF home" in a speech bubble. Accompanied by written words. “Traveling clown competitions are not welcome here,” tweets.

The City's Integrity Commissioner subsequently determined that these tweets were free speech and did not violate any rules.

The dashing mayor, who has not yet responded to a request for comment from the Toronto Sun, told John Moore on Newstalk 1010 Wednesday morning. And "these idiots are wreaking havoc across the country."

Peterborough has seen nasty protests this year, including the aggressive heckling of NDP leader Jagmeet Singh.

"Ugly" is what the Mayor called it.

However, as demonstrators were about to arrest the police, the mayor said, "What did they think was going to happen?"

She is right. It was certainly a stupid and distasteful idea, and unfair to the officers who played no part in determining the government's vaccine policy.

In the aftermath, Mayor Peterborough told Moore that "enough is enough" and that "people are fed up" and that they need to speak up.
