Rex, who was born Laith Abdallah Algaz, was found lying face down wearing only a black shirt, according to authorities, who added that he was bloodied from his mouth and nose.
The apartment was described as a mess, where police found drugs including steroids, cannabis, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication and antidepressants at the scene.
Another friend, Aicha Humera Rattanaphan, told the media outlet Rex he “lived alone in this room” and “didn’t have many visitors.”
Local police captain Sombat Kaewmulsuk said, “The room looked like there had been a disturbance, so it’s possible somebody else was with him before he died or the victim was distressed in some way.”
He continued: “We will be interrogating the victim’s friends, and a woman who had stayed with him before he died,” but noted that the public “not to jump to any conclusions until a complete examination has been done.”
Rex’s YouTube page, Leo and Longevity, had 124,000 subscribers to whom he posted videos on exercise supplements.

In other male genitalia news, a human penis — independent from its owner — was found in an Alabama gas station on Monday.
Witnesses discovered the member in a Mobile, Ala., parking lot but officers with the Mobile Police Department believe the penis belongs to a 29-year-old motorcycle driver who was involved in a fatal – and evidently, brutal – accident nearby, the Daily Caller reported.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was riding his motorcycle Southbound on the I-65 ramp to Eastbound I-10 when he lost control of the motorcycle,” according to police. “The rider was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by multiple vehicles.”
