Tyson Fury gave Joseph Parker a nod moments after the Kiwi was knocked out by Joe Joyce.

Parker, 30, withstood a barrage from the Brit before a left hook ended the fight in the 11th round.

And while Parker lay on the floor wondering what had just hit him, the Gypsy King nodded his head to him as a sign of respect.

Fury was sitting ringside alongside his father John and he was the first person Parker looked to after the knock-out blow.

The Brit also gestured with his hand for Parker to get back up, but the former world champion was down and out and the referee waved off the fight once he did get back to his feet.

  • Fury backs Joyce after Parker win

Tyson Fury has claimed Joe Joyce would beat Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

  • Parker "still learning" as a fighter

Joseph Parker congratulated Joe Joyce on his victory but is determined to come back stronger than ever following the defeat.

He said: "He was put under a lot of pressure, so congratulations to him he is a hell of a fighter.

"I still feel like I've got a lot to give boxing, I've just got to keep working. He put the pressure on, when I came out I should have focused more, but he caught me with a few shots and it sort of changed from there.

"There's no point dwelling on it, a loss is a loss but you've got to keep putting in the training and get back to work. If you dwell on it, then that will hold you back - it's just a fight really.

"I'll relax for a bit and when the time is right I'll watch the fight over and look at what we did positive and negative and work on it, it's all learning. Even though I've been champion of the world, I'm still learning as a fighter."

  • Joyce continued

“Both Usyk and Fury are tough fights because they are both at the absolute top level.

“They both have different strengths and weaknesses but are very different fighters.

“Fury is the tall switch hitter who can now bang a bit. Usyk is the smaller man but he’s the quicker southpaw.

“They are both really tough opponents but fights that I want.”

“He knows it would be a tough fight for himself now but I think he wants it.

“I think he wants to fight me."

  • David Haye praises "perfect" Joyce

Former world champion David Haye was full of praise for Joe Joyce, applauding his jab as well as his chin.

Haye also complimented the "punishment" Parker took but suggested he took a conclusive beating from Joyce.

Haye said: "It was perfect, he went out there and established his jab and completely took Parker's heart away. Parker looked gassed out from the second round, from the second round he was looking uncomfortable.

"Joyce just continued to tap tap tap with that jab. They're not massive shots but they're shots from a big massive 19 stone man.

"Parker's gonna have a hell of a headache tomorrow. You've gotta give Parker credit, he took so much punishment in that fight. I'm not sure what he's gonna do going forward but that is as conclusive a beating as you could possibly ever wanna see.

"We found out finally, does Joyce's chin absorb world-class power? The answer is yes."

  • Warren sets sights on Usyk

Joe Joyce's promoter Frank Waren praised both fighters after their gruelling 11-round bout and likened his man to a "fine wine".

He also claimed he will do everything in his power to grant Joyce's wish to fight Oleksandr Usyk.

Warren said: “Joe showed why he is the juggernaut. I knew he’d get there in the end but hats off to Joseph Parker, he is a brave warrior.

“We have a new kid on the block here. Joyce is like a fine wine, he is getting better with age.

“He is the mandatory challenger for the WBO title against Usyk and we are going to move heaven and earth to make sure he gets a shot.”

Joyce landed 106 of the 364 jabs he threw for a hit rate of 29 per cent, but Parker was accurate with just 7.5 per cent of the jabs he threw, landing a shocking 23 out of 305 thrown.

Parker held on bravely before a devastating left finished him off in the 11th round.

Joyce upped the tempo in the second half of the fight and absolutely dominated by the finish in what was the biggest test of his career.

  • Who's next for Joyce?

Well, he's now the mandatory for Usyk's WBO world title.

The pair fought in the World Series of Boxing back in 2013 with them both amateurs.

Joyce lost over five rounds on points on that occasion.

  • Big celebrations

Joe Joyce and his team including head trainer Ismael Salas celebrate in the ring after the huge victory.

Joyce firmly in position for a world title shot now.

  • Joe Joyce wins the WBO 'interim' heavyweight title

Joyce, who turned 37 on Monday is an infamously slow starter, was not at the races early again in Manchester.

The New Zealander was whacking away at the Londoner’s ribs as much as he could but Joyce has freakish resilience.

Joyce raced out for the sixth and smashed a right hand straight onto Parker’s broken nose.

Joyce was still getting punched back but he was overpowering and exhausting Parker in every clinch and slashing away at his head and body.

It was all action, thrilling stuff but only Joyce looked capable of scoring the late stoppage thanks to his super-human chin.

  • A tremendous nights boxing!

What a night of boxing that was!

We saw Serrano get the better of Mahfoud, and then Joe Joyce put in a brilliant, smart performance to get the better of Joseph Parker.

  • A sense of humour too!

Joe Joyce on a potential fight with champ Oleksandr Usyk...

"I'm very feel, let's get it on."

    Joe JoyceOn fighting Usyk.
  • Joe Joyce speaks...

"I hit him with everything I've got, the kitchen sink, the handbag, everything."

    Joe JoyceOn beating Joseph Parker

    You love to see it.

Joseph Parker holds Joyce's hand up to the sky.

What a display from Joyce that was, he took Parker's heart away in that one.

  • What a fight...

That was an immense contest from Joyce and Parker there.

Parker was doing brilliantly to stay in that one, but Joyce reacted so well to hit a long range left hook that knocked Parker down to the ground.

That was the icing on the cake for Joe Joyce who put up a great showing there...

  • Round Eleven...

Some big shots early from Joyce who rocked Parker there, he gets a good left hook too.

Parker has done immensely well to stay in it.

But HE IS KNOCKED OUT BY JOYCE IN THE ELEVENTH ROUND.

  • Round Ten...

Parker looks out on his feet, but then produces some big comeback shots it seems.

Tyson Fury can be seen cheering on Joseph Parker, and they both look to be feeling the pace as we near the end of this one.

Joyce is just peppering away at Parker where he can, and gets a good body shot on Parker.

Joyce just not allowing his opponent a breather at the moment.

Good work from Parker who gets some solid left hands in the end there.

  • Round Nine...

It seems Joyce now has a significant lead in this one.

There is some quality work from Joe Parker, who gets a great uppercut on Joyce, but he returns it with interest!

Parker is putting in a big effort in the ninth here.

But Joyce is simply getting some big right hand shots.

  • Round Eight...

Joyce starts well, and Parker looks to be getting weaker and weaker.

Joyce is really going for it with relentless pressure now, he will not take a backwards step.

Parker does pretty well to try and come back, but he really cannot get at Joyce now.

The relentlessness of the juggernaut is being shown here in the eighth round.

Huge credit to Parker who is still there despite a cut on his face.

    A great round.

  • Round Seven...

The jab has been key for Joyce tonight, who has had the 'perfect fight' so far according to David Haye.

Everything is bouncing off Joyce's head at the moment.

A good right hand from Parker early in the seventh round.

    Joyce keeps on coming...

A good jab from Joyce is followed by a right cross.

Parker looks like the one who is struggling, but then he comes back with a few good shots of his own and seems to spring into action.

A good spell from Joe Joyce, who is taking a few more risks now.

Parker goes back to the ropes, and the bell comes not a moment too soon for him, as his right eye looks damaged.
