Lewis Capaldi films new music video for his big comeback after three years

IT’S been three years since Lewis Capaldi released new material – but we can reveal that the Scottish singing legend is making a musical comeback with a new single.

The BRIT Award-winning superstar shot the video for his brand new track on Friday at Windsor’s Theatre Royal with more than 100 cast and crew.

We’re told that the popular crooner opted for an eclectic mood, adopting the theme of the movie La La Land – which saw him suspended in mid-air, with dream sequences including one featuring giant fish.

So far, so surreal.

A source said: “The shoot was top-secret, but there was a lot of excitement around the theatre as it’s a big comeback moment for Lewis.

“It’s a really creative video and a departure from what he has done in the past. As always, his vocals were faultless and impressive to all who heard them.”

The source added: “He’s buzzing for fans to hear his new song, but it won’t be released for a few months now.”

Lewis has also been busy rehearsing for a spate of summer festivals, which include headline sets at Parklife Festival in Manchester over the weekend of June 11 and 12, and Lytham Festival in Lancashire later the same month.

Lewis hasn’t posted on his Instagram since last year when he admitted he was “terrified” about making the follow-up to his No1 debut album.

He wrote: “I’d be lying if I said I haven’t been terrified about making my next album since the moment I finished Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.

We’re sure it will be well worth the wait . . .

Sheer brilliance as Ed returns to stage

AT the height of the pandemic, superstar Ed Sheeran feared he would never perform to a live audience again.

But the flame-haired singer needn’t have worried as he made a triumphant return to touring in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium last night with a record-breaking concert to 75,000 fans.

He told the crowd: “I don’t take it for granted that you choose to come to my gig. Two years ago, when the pandemic hit, I thought gigs were over and that would be it.”

Ed went on: “The first time I came to play in Wales was probably in 2008 . . . I had a mailing list on my website back in the MySpace days. I used to say ‘if anybody would like me to play your living room, email this address’. I used to play to 20 people in student living rooms.

“One of the places I came to was Cardiff so to be able to come back here 14 years later and play this mammoth show is really f**king cool.”

The Mathematics tour marks his return to live performance after four years.

The extravagant set for the 74 dates is in stark contrast to his last run, which was a stripped-back affair with just microphone and guitar.

This time screens on ten foot-wide red plectrums beamed the concert to fans around the stadium while the singer performed on a rotating stage underneath a huge circular plasma screen.

Roaring rock solos, pyrotechnics and fireworks kicked off the night and a souped-up, edgier Ed Sheeran, a 2.0 of sorts, appeared.

We, the audience, proved our worth too, while harmonising on his orders to tear-jerker Give Me Love.

Part of Ed’s act included adding a band to his 360-degree stage, but they were superfluous to a show whose heart remains in its acoustic ballads.

As long as Ed keeps multiplying hits, nobody will be divided when it comes to buying tickets to his gigs.

CAUGHT LIVE: NUTS FOR PAOLO

AFTER eight years between albums, Scottish singer Paolo Nutini is finally back with new music.

And rest assured, that voice – which has no business belonging to a man of his age – stirs the emotions more than ever.

Beloved classics Candy and Coming Up Easy thrilled superfans at the intimate gig – as did a quirky reworked version of Pencil Full Of Lead and, of course, a mandatory encore of Iron Sky.

But the fresh material slotted comfortably alongside the singer’s triumphant back catalogue.

Petrified in Love managed to be the catchiest song on the setlist, despite this being the first time the crowd heard it, only further increasing the hunger for his new album Last Night In The Bittersweet, out July 1.

He was short of words in interludes but we did get a few glimpses into the man himself, who at one point mumbled humbly: “Thanks for listening.”

Oh, the pleasure was all ours, Paolo.

Scherzy is looking Soho hot

NICOLE Scherzinger puts her best foot forward as she steps out in a sexy black ensemble at the Windmill venue in London’s Soho.

The singer, who is dating Thom Evans, is back in the UK after a long stint in America.

An onlooker revealed: “Nicole was in high spirits after celebrating her cousin’s birthday.”

It’s good to have you back, Scherzy . . .

BILL BACK ON BOX WITH OTI

THEIR Strictly partnership was a roaring success and two years after winning the glitterball trophy, Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse are reuniting on-screen.

The duo are set to become the new pairing on Channel 4’s Celebrity Gogglebox, critiquing TV programmes of the day.

It comes after former pro dancer Oti appeared on the previous series with her sisters, Strictly judge MOTSI and Phemelo.

A TV insider said: “Production are really excited about this pairing.

“Oti already has a huge fanbase and Bill is really funny, so he’ll be cracking jokes left, right and centre.

“Bill and Oti get on really well, they always have a hoot working together so this is a dream come true.

“Plus Oti’s laugh is infectious so they’re bound to have the audience laughing along with them.”

The series returns on Friday, July 10 with Rylan, Nick Grimshaw, Mel C and Mo Gilligan, along with a special Pride episode.

Craig: My sadness at Bruno

CRAIG Revel Horwood has spoken of his sadness about losing his Strictly Come Dancing sidekick Bruno Tonioli.

But he has also let slip that the buddies will be working together on rival channel ITV as they take their show Craig and Bruno’s Great British Road Trips abroad to their native Italy and Australia.

Craig said: “I was sad for my dear friend Bruno. I am going to miss him.”

He went on: “We have already done Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno’s Great British Road Trips for ITV and now we are planning on an Italian one and an Australian one. We are a bit like Steve Coggan and Rod Brydon, but only funnier.”

Craig also revealed that late host Bruce Forsyth is still with them in the Strictly studio.

He said: “It feels like he’s always with us. I think that, in death, people stay with you and sometimes you ask them in your mind what to do and they can answer you.”

RYLAN CLARK is so pleased with his new teeth that his mum has now visited his dentist.

Celeb fave Dr Richard Marques, who created Rylan’s pearly white smile, has now transformed his mum Linda’s choppers too. Richard, whose clients include Rita Ora, Tom Daley and Dua Lipa, told us: “I absolutely love my job and helping to improve people’s confidence. It’s a real pleasure.

“Rylan has been a dream to work with and I’m chuffed that he’s sharing my work.”

Richard added: “Hopefully we are moving away from the stigma that Brits have bad teeth.”
