Meghan Markle news: Fake tears to faux torment – why Harry & Meg’s latest Netflix teaser represents new low, says Piers

PIERS Morgan has slammed Prince Harry for using "imagery of Princess Diana" in the explosive new trailer for his and Meghan's upcoming Netflix doc.

Writing in The Sun, Piers Morgan accused the pair of "fake tears" and " faux torment" following the release of a second trailer for their £88million Netflix docuseries.

However, Piers highlighted the use of Princess Diana's memory by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as a new low.

He penned: "The trailer even flashes up imagery of Princess Diana to try, once again, to directly link and compare the two women. Yet Diana was a hundred times more famous, pursued, and beloved, than Markle’s ever been or ever will be.

"And given all his bleating about privacy and the media trading off Diana and the royals, it’s hard to imagine a worse kind of grotesquely hypocritical exploitation than Harry now brazenly using his dead mother to flog a reality kiss-and-tell TV series because he needs to justify the Netflix gazillions."

At the time of the couples TV appearance, the Queen herself was also suffering from health issues and was on ''borrowed time''.

A royal insider, quoted in Gyles Brandreth's biography of Elizabeth II, said: "The late Queen not only knew the Duke’s health was failing but also her own.

''It became clear that she was on borrowed time as she began to tie up loose ends. That’s what made the Sussexes’ behaviour doubly difficult to deal with. The timing could not have been more insensitive."

  • Former Royal butler reveals the hilarious motorbike prank Prince William once played on him

A former royal butler has recalled a time Prince William played a funny prank on him while going incognito in his motorbike leathers.

Speaking to Onlinecasino.ca, Grant Harrold said: ''When I was getting to know them and looking after them, I remember going to get fuel at the local garage and I took one of the cars, I can’t remember if it was a staff car or Royal car, so I was filling it up with fuel. I went into the garage and I was sitting in the garage and somebody tapped my shoulder.

''I looked round and they had a motorbike helmet on and leathers. turned around and looked away. I used to be in a reality series a year before, so people would come up and do that to me. So he did it again and I looked again and ignored, then I got a third tap.

''So I turned around and actually came face to face with him and the voice said ‘you don’t recognise me, do you?’ and I said ‘no, I don’t know why you keep tapping me’ and then he lifted the visor and it was William and then he started laughing like ‘did you get a fright?’ and I was like, ‘yeah!’.

''That was his humour, and that was the kind of relationship I had with him.''

  • Royal biographer left 'speechless' over Harry and Meghan's Netflix documentary trailer

Royal biographer says she was left ''speechless'' after seeing the trailer for Meghan and Harry's highly anticipated Netflix documentary.

The show has been accused of carelessness over two seemingly misleading pictures.

Royal biographer Angela Levin told The Sun: "I’m speechless. It’s absolutely astonishing.

"We’ve got at least three faults in a minute glimpse of what we are going to see.

"It turns your stomach. Why do that? Are they trying to pretend crowds and crowds of people are coming to watch them? What are they saying? It can only be that.

"Why would they pick something from Queen Mary's time? It's completely baffling that they are doing that.

"Is it trying to give a different impression to the reality or is it carelessness on behalf of the people who chose the photographs?

"I can't believe that Meghan didn't look at them very carefully. She must have asked to see them - they are very very significant.''

Meghan and Harry's Netflix show has been accused of carelessness over a second seemingly misleading picture.

The Duchess and Duke of Sussex included an 84-year-old picture of crowds of cheering children during a trailer montage depicting their Royal life.

But the photo was taken in 1938 and the children were cheering for Queen Mary and not the privacy-loving couple.

  • How old was Princess Diana when she died and where is she buried?

Princess Diana was 36 years old when she died.

She was born on July 1, 1961.

Princess Diana's final resting place is in grounds of Althorp Estate - which has been the Spencer family home for centuries.

The actual area for burial is on an island in an ornamental lake known as The Oval within Althorp home's Pleasure Garden.

Earlier plans for her to be laid to rest in the family's vault in the nearby Great Brington church were abandoned due to concerns about security and safety.

The private burial was held following her funeral with family in attendance.

Although her final resting place is not open to the public, the island can be seen from a distance.

Those visiting Althorp Estate can pay their respects at a separate memorial site located in the grounds of the stately home.

  • When and how did Princess Diana die?

Princess Diana, also known as Diana Frances Spencer, died on August 31, 1997, after suffering fatal injuries in a car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris.

The tunnel is located in the heart of the French capital next to the River Seine.

Her companion Dodi Fayed and driver and security guard Henri Paul were also killed in the devastating crash.

Diana's bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones was severely injured but survived the accident.

In the days after her death, a sea of flowers and tributes were left outside the gates of Kensington Palace in an enormous outpouring of public grief, as those who loved and respected Diana paid their respects.

Diana's funeral was held on September 6, 1997, at Westminster Abbey and was shown on British television - attracting an audience of 32.1million viewers.

In 2008, an inquest held in London concluded that the Princess had been unlawfully killed.

The inquest found Diana's driver, Henri Paul's driving to be grossly negligent, as well as the pursuing of paparazzi vehicles.

  • Chilling Diana reference spotted in Meghan and Harry’s Netflix doc

A chilling reference to Princess Diana has been spotted in the trailer for the Sussexes' new Netflix series.

The clip features a number of very direct references to the 'People's Princess' but one moment in particular seems to refer to a terrifying theme.

About half way through, there is a brief shot out the back window of a car, showing another vehicle seemingly following it.

As this is shown, the Duchess' voiceover states "I realised, 'They're never going to protect you".

The moment evokes haunting memories of Diana's final days and appears to reference her being followed.
