Ukraine disputed this claim. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia was not completely controlled and the city's battles continued on the outskirts of the city. However, he admitted that Ukraine is in a difficult situation.

"There is no advantage," Zelensky said in a press conference with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Sunday at Kieu. "It's a really very difficult situation there."

Zelensky said he was still trying to hand over weapons to Lysychansik to strengthen the Ukrainian army.
