Train strike times: Which trains will be canceled?

The next nationwiderail strike planned by members of the RMT union will take place on Thursday, August 18th.

The industrial action involves approximately 40,000 employees acrossNetwork Railand 14 train operations managers, ranging from cleaners and station workers to signalmen and security guards. About 2,500 members of the Transportation Salary Officials Association (TSSA) are involved.

Disturbance is expected to continue until Friday morning (in London the same day will be exacerbated by a 24-hour subway strike).

However, which lines are affected and which trains will operate.

Railway companies affected by strike.

The UK rail network will not be completely closed, but most trains will be suspended in England, Wales and Scotland. About one-fifth of train services are expected to operate.

Chiltern Railways

Chiltern Railways operate between Marylebone, London and Oxford, Birmingham and Aylesbury, and the shopping mecca of Bicester Village. It stops at sightseeing spots such as On Thursday "a significantly shortened timetable will operate, with no services north of Banbury", but on Friday "services will start later and end earlier than usual".

CrossCountry

CrossCountry is based on Birmingham New Street and offers services as far south as Penzance, north as Aberdeen and west as Cardiff . There are also trains to major destinations such as Stansted Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Bournemouth, Glasgow and Nottingham.

All lines from Cardiff Central to Nottingham will be closed on Thursdays.

Trains do not operate between Bristol Temple Meads and Penzance. Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow Central. Stoke-on-Trent and Stockport. Leicester and Stansted Airport. Southampton Central and Bournemouth.

On some of the routes in service, the shortened timetable usually shows one train per hour. Only two trains run from Birmingham New Street to Newcastle and Edinburgh Waverley (11.03 and 13.03).

Greater Anglia

"Avoid traveling with us," says Greater Anglia on August 18th. "Our services will be significantly reduced and disrupted. Most routes may not have train or bus alternatives." but warned that it would return to normal in the afternoon.

On Thursdays he will operate only three routes. Trains run once an hour between Norwich and Colchester and Liverpool Street in London. There is also one train an hour between Cambridge and Liverpool Street and two trains an hour between Southend and Liverpool Street.

LNER

London North Eastern operates major routes north from London to stations in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and York .

On August 18th, there will be one or two shortened trains per hour. No trains run north of Leeds.

The last train from Edinburgh to King's Cross is at 12:30. Conversely, the last train is at 14:00.

East Midlands Railway

EMR will operate significantly reduced service on Thursday, asking customers to travel by rail only if necessary . "If you do decide to travel, plan ahead and leave extra time for disruptions and sudden changes," advises.

EMR Connect services, Nottingham to Sheffield services and Leicester to Nottingham services will not operate and no rail alternative buses will be offered.

Trains run between Nottingham and London every hour. Sheffield and London. Darby and Matlock. Derby and Nottingham. and Leicester and Nottingham (stop service). All other routes are closed.

Operators operating services between London and Essex have advised against all non-essential travel on Thursday.

From 07:30 to 18:30, a shortened service equivalent to less than one-third of the normal service level will run.

Trains will not operate via Ockendon or Chafford Hundred.

Great Western Railway

Severely limited service will operate. GWR passengers are advised to 'make separate travel arrangements and only travel if absolutely necessary'.

There will be no rail service on the following routes:

Northern Trains

Said 18 Aug.

Limited timetables operate between Manchester and Alderley Edge, Liverpool and Manchester, Leeds and York, Ilkley, Sheffield, Skipton and Bradford. There is no rail service on other routes.

Southeast

Only 44 out of 180 stations are open and passengers are advised to avoid travel if possible. Train replacement buses will not operate at closed stations.

Limited service between London Bridge and Sevenoaks on the Woolwich, Sidcup and Bexleyheath lines and between London Bridge and Dartford. A shortened timetable will also run from London St Pancras to Ashford International.

South Western Railway

Some routes will have very limited service between 07:15 and 18:30, while the rest of the The network will be closed.

The only route that operates on a shortened schedule is London Waterloo to Southampton, Basingstoke, Woking and Windsor.

TransPennine Express

TPE operates only a small portion of the regular timetable.

It is advisable to confirm the entire trip prior to travel, including the times of the first and last trains, as services start later and end earlier than usual.

Only 5 trains a day run between Sheffield and Doncaster, Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe and Manchester and Preston. Only two trains run between Edinburgh and Berwick-upon-Tweed and Berwick-upon-Tweed Newcastle. From York to Leeds and from Leeds to Manchester there is a train every hour until about 4:20.

Avanti West Coast

Avanti advises against non-essential travel.

There is one train an hour from Euston to Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham and Preston, and a limited train to Glasgow.

These trains operate at limited times, with the first train of the day leaving Euston just before 8am and the last train from Euston mid-afternoon.

A significantly shortened timetable on 18 August means no Avanti West Coast service in North Wales, Shrewsbury, Blackpool and Edinburgh, with trains to Stockport and Macclesfield , Stoke-on-Trent, or Runcorn. These stations will be closed.

West Midlands Trains

West Midlands Railway services will operate on a limited number of routes with a limited timetable (as recently as 27 July timetable). Very limited services will be in place during this time, so it is 'recommended to travel by rail only if absolutely necessary'.

Only the following routes operate with limited timetables:

London Northwestern Rail Service does not operate on any other routes.

GTR

The Govia Thameslink Railway is Britain's largest railway company, controlling the Southern, Thameslink, Great Northern and Gatwick Express. Many of the networks will be closed.

Southern

Two trains per hour run between:

Gatwick Express

Gatwick Express service will not operate. Run.

London Overground

London Overground will operate a reduced service from 08:00 to 18:00. The service will not run before 08:00 or after 18:00.

Short runs between Doncaster and London King's Cross.

London Northwestern Railways

Limited timetables operate only on the following lines:
