XGIMI Halo+ review: Versatile projector with great audio and cinematic quality

XGIMI has a brilliant catalog of high-end projectors for different situations and scenarios.

Since its first release in 2014, XGIMI has rapidly improved its technology to produce the best projectors on the market.

Their Horizon Pro and Aura have already proven to be great replacements for TVs.

However, XGIMI made headlines last year with the release of one of his best devices, the portable projector Halo.

XGIMI has now launched his successor, Halo+, which appears to build on the success of its predecessor.

Measuring 113.5 x 145 x 171.5 mm, Halo+ is a very sleek and compact projector no larger than a speaker or tablet.

Weighing in at 1.6 kg, it's a bit heavier than your average portable projector, but it's still a lightweight device that's easy to carry around.

XGIMI's new portable projector is the successor to Halo (

The projector is housed in a very smooth metal mesh that not only feels durable and solid, but also looks very premium. .

This mesh also provides adequate protection for the speakers embedded within the projector. The back of the projector has the input connections and the fan.

Halo+ is the perfect size and weight for a portable projector, with all inputs and buttons easily accessible.

Halo+ also includes an angled stand and a threaded connector to attach to the stand.

There was no wobble.

Halo+ has three control buttons on the top that are touch sensitive. The flat design of the buttons completes the minimalist design of the projector.

However, the projector could use a few more control buttons as I felt very limited by the rest of the buttons placed on the remote control. That said, the projector would be a bit redundant without it.

Halo+'s overall design makes it the perfect companion for outdoor and indoor use and is pleasing to the eye with its stunning stylish aesthetic.

Halo+ enhances all features of its predecessor (

Halo+ packs a lot of power into a compact body. It can deliver up to 900 lumens while projecting Full HD resolution at up to 200 inches.

We tested it in a variety of environments and found the image quality to be sharp and clear even on bright days.

All the details were clearly visible during daytime use, the only caveat being that it had to be plugged into mains power or the lumens dropped to 700. This is very noticeable.

Halo+ image quality is all recommended 3. Beautiful until 19 meters and beyond was. It's a little blurry and you can tell it's trying to refocus more than usual.

But in general, I was really impressed when I tried games and his 4K movies. Unlike most portable projectors, Halo+ comes with additional settings to enhance your overall experience.

The projector doesn't have his 4K resolution native, but it's built in HDR 10.

Several connection inputs including HDMI and USB (

I found this to really make a difference when playing games and Ultra HD films as all colors look richer. With it off, there was a noticeable difference in quality, but image quality was still very good.

There are also various image modes such as Movie, Soccer, Office, Game, and Custom. Customization is limited, except for a custom mode where you can actually specify how the image should look. Only slight differences between the

modes were seen. Movie mode offers better image quality than other modes.

Latency has been greatly improved while playing, except in game mode.

I wasn't able to test the 3D video as I didn't have the required glasses, but this is a nice feature rarely seen in portable projectors.

One of Halo+'s great features is autofocus keystone correction.

As soon as you turn on the projector, it instantly scans the projected area and resizes the screen accordingly.

Contains speakers designed by Harman kardon (

There is also manual focus, which is a great feature for newcomers to projectors who may not know how to set it up.

The only problem is that keystone correction is very sensitive. In other words, a little touch or knock activates it.

Halo+ works with Android TV 10 and allows access to a variety of apps like Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, and more, all of which work just like a TV.

The main omission is Netflix, which now only works by connecting a laptop via the HDMI port.

XGIMI has another method that requires buying a TV stick or downloading from another app, but it didn't work for me.

Given the popularity of Netflix, this seems like a huge oversight. , is not a bargain.

Halo+ includes various inputs such as USB and HDMI to expand the amount of content you can play through it.

It also has 16 GB of internal memory where you can store files, which is useful when you have a low WiFi connection.

It was a little frustrating to find that not all file types were recognized, even when using apps like VLC player.

However, it has a built-in music player and the ability to receive Chromecast from other devices.

Halo+ is a very flexible all-in-one device, with some frustrating omissions here and there.

Halo+ is great for outdoors (

Halo+ can be used as a music player with dual 5W speakers designed by Harman Kardon.

I was very hesitant to use the projector as my main music source outdoors, but I was impressed with the excellent bass and distortion-free performance.

They won't replace high-end portable speakers, but they'll suffice for events and parties.

Connect to other audio devices via Bluetooth 5.0 for additional sound support You can get inclusion. The

projector is built with his 59W battery, which only lasted about two hours during testing. Considering the lumen output dropped to 700, this isn't long at all. This means you are already saving power.

For a portable projector, this alone is not enough, especially if you take it camping or to the park, or where access to the plug he socket is limited or non-existent.

Verdict 4/5

XGIMI's Halo+ is a great portable projector with excellent image quality and admiral audio.

Battery life is considerably less than expected, but it's by no means a deal breaker.

An update or future product should make accessing Netflix easier.

But Halo+ is one of the best portable projectors on the market and is suitable for a wide range of scenarios.

XGIMI Halo+ is available for £749.00
