I Am Sick, Undergoing Treatment Abroad—Akpabio
Senator Godswill Akpabio has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) that he could not honor its invitation because of ill health and already arranged medical appointments overseas.

The EFCC had summoned Akpabio, former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, over an allegation of abuse of office and misappropriation of billions of Naira. The EFCC in an invitation letter served on Akpabio asked him to appear at its office on the 29th day of March 2023. However, Akpabio failed to show up and wrote to EFCC via his lawyer Umel Kalu, SAN.
The letter from Akpabio’s lawyer said: “We write to convey our client’s inability to honor the scheduled visit to your office on the 29th day of March 2022, due to ill health and already arranged medical appointment overseas. “As mentioned in our last letter to you dated February 10, 2023, our client is undergoing treatment for pneumonia and cardiac arrhythmia, and, has recently been advised to seek further attention abroad.”
Tinubu needs more prayers from Nigerians – Gov. Masari
Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State said President-elect, Bola Tinubu, needs more prayers from Nigerians to enable his administration to succeed.

Masari disclosed this during a special breaking of fast and prayer session organized on Wednesday at the Government House, Katsina. According to the governor, the President-elect used to organize such prayer sessions every year during Ramadan.

Ngige wants the Tinubu govt to review the minimum wage
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has said that the incoming administration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, should review the current minimum wage of N30,000 currently obtainable in Nigeria.

Ngige, who was a member of the committee that negotiated the present minimum wage in 2019 from N18,000 to N30,000, noted that the country’s minimum wage should be reviewed every five years to fit the current standard of living. The minister, who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, further mentioned that he would include in his handover notes that the discussion surrounding minimum wage should start immediately after the new government is sworn-in in May 2023, ahead of its implementation, which he said should be in May 2024.
He said the discussions would involve the public sector, private sector, and state governments, and according to the last bill passed should start a year before it officially takes effect. “So, I’m envisaging that as of May 2023, the government will impanel the new minimum wage review committee for the nation.
Govs-elect, others get Certificates of Return
Governors-elect of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara; Delta State, Mr. Sheriff Oborevwori; and Taraba State, Lt. Col. Agbu Kefas, as well as other states, on Wednesday, received their Certificates of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission.

INEC’s National Commissioner supervising Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, and Rivers states, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, in Port Harcourt, handed over the certificates to Fubara; his deputy, Ngozi Odu; and the 32 members-elect of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Speaking after receiving his certificate, Fubara said, “For the opposition, our doors are open, our window. If you don’t want to pass the door, you can enter through the window because we need everyone on board for a better and more progressive Rivers State.” Also, Oborevwori expressed happiness for the success of the election after receiving his Certificate of Return from the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Delta State, Mr. Monday Tom.
