Tito Sotto lead the Eat Bulaga family in making this announcement
On May 31, 2023, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon made an important announcement on the longest-running noontime show Eat Bulaga.
The said show has been part of the daily viewing routine of many Filipino households not just in the Philippines but also abroad. It is known to many that these past few months, issues surfaced surrounding the show and its management, TAPE Inc. owned by Romy Jalosjos.
On Wednesday, TVJ announced what their next step is after all the meetings and negotiations. Avid viewers of the noontime show were wondering why replays of past episodes were shown.
Then, just before 1 PM, the Dabarkads were shown and they were at the studio. Tito Sotto was the one who spoke first. He said that they came to the studio to work but they were not allowed by TAPE to air live.
Joey de Leon thanked all the TV networks who catered for their show, RPB, ABS-CBN, and GMA, from the day they started on July 30, 1979. Vic Sotto thanked all the advertisers who have supported and believed in them since day one.
Then, Tito expressed gratitude to all the Dabarkads who joined them on their journey. He also thanked Mr. Tony Tuviera, the former TAPE CEO who worked hand in hand with them for Eat Bulaga.
Vic said that they don’t want to elaborate on what they feel now as they just want to work peacefully and there is respect and equality. “Simula ngayong araw, May 31, 2023, kami po ay magpapaalam na sa TAPE Incorporated,†he continued.
Bossing also said that it is an honor for them to bring joy to the people from Batanes to Jolo and to be part of the Dabarkads’ lives. “Maraming-maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. Hanggang sa muli. Saan man kami dalhin ng tadhana, tuloy ang isang libo’t isang tuwa,†Vic said.
