Our NFL betting writer brings you his best Bears vs. Jets predictions and picks for their Week 12 showdown, which is live Sunday on FOX at 1 p.m. EST.

Chicago has lost four in a row to fall to 3-8, and is coming off a 27-24 loss at Atlanta. The Bears are 1-5 on the road and the status of quarterback Justin Fields is tenuous at best due to a shoulder injury.

The Jets (6-4) have lost two of three but remain in the hunt to stop an 11-year hiatus from the playoffs. Benching Zach Wilson in favor of Mike White brings some uncertainty to the offense.

Bears vs. Jets predictions and analysis

The Bears have split their first two games against AFC East foes this season. Chicago has scored at least 24 points in five consecutive games. The Jets topped Green Bay 27-10 in Week 6 to start the crossover portion of their schedule. Sunday begins a stretch in which the team will play three of four against the NFC North.

You may have heard there are quarterback quandaries facing both teams.

Jets coach Robert Saleh this week benched starter Zach Wilson in favor of Mike White after Wilson passed for a career-low 77 yards in the loss to New England amid ongoing struggles to jump-start the attack.

Chicago is weighing whether to keep Justin Fields in the lineup after he separated his left, non-throwing shoulder late in the Atlanta game. Should Fields be held out, the Bears’ offense would take a dramatic turn, going from the dual-threat Fields to journeyman Trevor Siemian, who has not started since Thanksgiving last season, when he piloted New Orleans to a lopsided loss against Buffalo.

The Jets defense ranks fourth in the NFL with 32 sacks and is second with 81 quarterback hits, so New York figures to make things rough for whomever is under center for Chicago.

Jets winning margin of 1-6 points

The Jets have split their past four games after a 4-2 start. During that span, they’ve surrendered no more than 22 points as each contest has been a one-score game.

The Bears play close games, too, albeit of the shootout variety. Their four-game skid started with a thud at Dallas, but subsequent losses to Miami, Detroit and Atlanta have come by a combined seven points.

Expect this one to have some rough patches, especially if Siemian is at QB. The Jets will find enough oomph while relying on their proven ‘D’ to eke out a victory.

Mike White over 230.5 passing yards

White was 1-2 as a starter for the Jets in 2021 but says he has continued to prepare as if he would get another chance. He showed capabilities for brilliance, passing for 405 yards and three scores against Cincinnati, but also struggled mightily while throwing four interceptions against Buffalo.

The Bears’ defense allows an average of 7.3 yards per completion and has struggled to get after opposing quarterbacks all season. While White may not have a monster day, he should have the chance to find receivers.
