Biden Awards Biles, McCain and Gifford the Medal of Freedom

President Joe Biden is the tallest civilian in the United States, with 17 people including actor Denzel Washington, gymnast Simone Biles, and the late John McCain. Awards the Presidential Medal of Freedom. An Arizona Republican with whom Biden served in the US Senate.

This honor is given to those who have made exemplary contributions to US prosperity, values, security, world peace, and other important social, public or private efforts. House said.

Biles is the most decorated American gymnast in history, winning 32 medals at the Olympic and World Championships. She is a frank advocate of very personal issues for her, such as the athlete's mental health, her foster child, and the victim of sexual assault.

Lindsay became an advocate of COVID-19 vaccination after receiving her first vaccination in the United States.

McCain, who died of a brain tumor in 2018, has been bred in Vietnam for over five years. In the US Navy. He later represented Arizona in both houses of the Diet and was elected Republican presidential candidate in 2008. Biden said McCain was a "dear friend" and a "hero."

The other 13 medal winners are:

  • Gabrielle Giffords. The Democratic Party of Japan, a former member of the Arizona House of Representatives, has founded Gifford, an organization dedicated to ending gun violence. She was seriously injured when she was shot in her head during a composition event in Tucson in January 2011.
  • Fred Gray. Gray was one of the first black members of the post-reconstruction Alabama Legislature. He was a prominent civil rights lawyer representing Rosa Parks, NAACP, Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Steve Jobs. Jobs was the co-founder, chief executive officer, and chairman of Apple Inc. He died in 2011.
  • Father Alexander Carlotos. Karloutsos is an assistant to Archbishop Demetrius of the United States. The White House said Carloutos advised several US presidents.
  • Hizuruhan. The son of an army officer in Khan, an immigrant from Pakistan, was killed in Iraq. Kahn became nationally famous after speaking at the 2016 Democratic National Convention and became the target of Donald Trump's wrath.
  • Diane Nash. Nash, a founding member of the Student Nonviolence Coordinating Committee, organized some of the most important civil rights campaigns of the 20th century and worked with King.
  • Megan Rapinoe. Olympic gold medalist and two-time Women's World Cup football champion Captain is OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League. She is a prominent advocate of gender equality, racial justice and LGBTQI + rights in the White House in Biden.

  • Raúl Yzaguirre. A civil rights advocate, Isagire has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Lalaza National Council for 30 years. He was the US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic under the Obama administration.
