Chicago's July 4 weekend violence begins with 22 people shot dead and four dead in 20 hours.

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles. According to the Chicago Police Department, the weekend of July 4 began violently in Chicago, and on Friday22 people were shot dead, four of whom died.

Only one suspect and one person involved were detained.

"We need to remember every watch every day. The brave men and women of the Chicago Police Department literally endanger their lives for our safety." Mayor Lori Lightfoot said at a press conference on Friday. He reminds the residents to say "thank you" to the officers.

Around 2 am on Friday, S. A mass shooting occurred outside a downtown business located 400 blocks on Wells Street. Five male victims built pistols and fired multiple ammunition at all five victims, two of whom verbally fought with criminals sentenced to death.

FOX News analyst Gianno Caldwell remembered his 18-year-old brother and shot a deadly ammunition in Chicago. The victims were a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound on the left side of his head and a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound on his chest. Authorities transferred both victims to a hospital, where they were later sentenced. 

Other victims include another 29-year-old man, a 35-year-old man, and a man of unknown age, all injured and in good condition.

Thirty minutes later, a 15-year-old boy was shot in S's 5900 block on his left leg and left buttock. LaSalle Street. 

On Friday morning, just before 8:30 am, a uniformed Chicago police officer was shot multiple times at 1300 blocks on W. Taylor Street. Authorities detained one suspect and transferred him to a nearby hospital to an injured police officer, where he remained "serious but stable."

Around 3 pm, a 17-year-old girl was fatally shot at the torso of a commercial parking lot by a suspect riding a bicycle past her. Authorities transferred her girl to a hospital, where she was sentenced to death and detained a person of her interest.

Three hours later, at 6 pm, a 26-year-old male victim was S. He died of a gunshot wound on his arm and head at 6500 blocks on Walcott Street.

The second mass shooting occurred around 9 pm. Located on West Monroe Street, 3800 blocks.  Two female victims (20 and 36) and two male victims (25 and 41) suffered gunshot wounds. No one has been detained.

According to CPD's major incident notice, another nine victims were shot dead between 3 am and 10 pm on Friday, bringing the total to at least 22. However, the Chicago Sun-Times reported on Friday that a total of 25 victims shot.

Wrightfoot touted a "steady decline" in shootings and murders in Windy City at a press conference on Friday. The number of murders in 2022 decreased by 10% compared to the same period last year, and this year there are 304 murders compared to 336 in 2020. Murder cases have also decreased by 2% compared to 2020, but have increased by 26% and 18%. 2019 and 2018 respectively. 

Furthermore, according to the mayor, shootings are decreasing by 15% year by year.

"It's a real, noteworthy thing I want people to know," she said. .. 

At a press conference, Rich Guidice, Executive Director of the Chicago Office for Emergency Management (OEMC), law enforcement is monitoring 240 miles in Chicago, and OEMC has about 20,000 daily visits to the 911 Center. He said he was receiving a call.

He added that the OEMC and CPD will monitor weekend events and protests, as well as national events to keep the community safe.
