Election Hacking: How to Attack Computers
Lansing, Michigan — The Office of the Michigan Attorney General has advised the Special Counsel that Republican candidates for state attorney general and others seek to gain access to voting machines. We are asking to investigate whether prosecution should be brought in connection with the attempt. The 2020 election, according to published reports.
The Detroit News reported Sunday that Attorney General Dana Nessel's office will be considered by the Michigan Prosecutor's Coordination Council, a state agency, to indict. It reportedly requested the appointment of a special prosecutor. Against his nine, including Republican Attorney General Candidate Matt DePerno, State Representative Daire Rendon of Lake City, and Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf.
The paper reported that details of the charges were made in a letter sent by Nessel's Chief Deputy Attorney General, Christina Grossi, to Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson on Friday.
According to the letter, they persuaded the local clerk to hand over the ballots and break in to conduct a "test."
The Special Counsel's request was filed because of a potential conflict of interest, as Nessel will likely run against his DePerno in the November election.
His DePerno, an attorney, is endorsed by former President Donald Trump. Political newcomers support Trump's false claim that he lost to President Biden in the 2020 battleground states. DePerno was endorsed by Michigan Republicans at the state convention in April. He will be formally named at the second tournament later this month, but it was seen as a formality.
"Dana Nessel knows she's losing this race," Depernod campaign manager Tyson Shepherd said Sunday. "She is desperate to win this election at all costs and is now targeting her political opponent Deperno," the news reported in a statement late at night. It is ethical and will further demonstrate to voters that she is unfit for office.”
Five aggregators were brought in and Ben Cotton, Jeff Lemberg, Douglas Logan, and James Penrose "performed a 'test' of the tabulator and equipment.
Cotton, Renberg, Logan and Penrose have all been involved in efforts to question the 2020 election. Cotton, Renberg and Penrose were cited as experts by DePerno in a lawsuit involving Antrim County, News reported.
Logan was the founder of Cyber Ninjas and was involved in auditing results in Maricopa County, Arizona.
News said Leaf did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Sunday and was unable to contact Rendon.
Unauthorized possession of a voting machine used in elections is a felony punishable by five years in prison, the paper reported.
