Demonstrations have been held around Akron since the shooting by Walker's police on June 27, but after the police released the video, the demonstration intensified on Sunday, and Akron Mayor Daniel Horigan Called it "painful".

Dressed in riot equipment, a shielded policeman confronts the demonstrators, shouting "Police F-k," "Jayland's Justice," and "We are dying." I was able to hear him. News 5 Cleveland.

During the turmoil, protesters blocked traffic in the city's Highland Square and West Akron sections, and someone trashed them. I lit it and broke it. Plow windows used to close the street.

At a press conference held Sunday to announce the release of a body camera video, authorities were 25 years old when police chased him on foot and killed him with a barrage of bullets. He admitted that Walker wasn't armed, but they believed he had previously fired at them from the car and were afraid to shoot again.

It's unclear how many shots the eight police officers involved in the incident fired, but Akron police chief Steve Millet said that, even after Walker had at least 60 rounds. He said the number could exceed 90. On the ground, according to a lawyer in his family.

Upon arriving at the scene, the coroner found Walker lying handcuffed on his back, according to the ME's "worksheet" of the case,  {42. } The Beacon Journal reported. He was reportedly injured in his face, torso, and upper limbs.

Police tried to pull Walker's car around 12:30 pm. Last Monday, despite an unspecified traffic and equipment breach, he refused to stop and chased a police officer.

Police said Walker fired a shot from his car while pursuing, and a transport department camera captured what looked like a flash of muzzle from the car.

Mylett said he changed the nature of the case from "normal traffic outages to current public security issues."

The body camera video shows what was unfolded after about 6 minutes of tracking. Several screaming policemen with guns approach the car on foot as the slow car rolls over the curb and onto the sidewalk.

A walker wearing a ski mask exits his passenger door and runs towards the parking lot. Police track him for about 10 seconds before firing from multiple directions in a burst of shots that lasts 6 or 7 seconds.

At least one police officer tries to use Stan first The gun did, but it failed, police said.

Mylett said it's difficult to distinguish Walker's behavior on video in real time, but stills seem to indicate that he's "down to the waist." , Another photo seems to show that he is facing the policeman. He said the third photo "captures the forward movement of his arm."

In a statement shared with reporters on Sunday, local police unions believe police officers pose an imminent threat of serious harm, and their actions and number of shots are theirs. Training and protocols that stated that they believed to be justified in line with their actions. The union said officers were cooperating in the investigation.

Police said more than 60 wounds were found on Walker's body, but further investigation is needed to accurately determine the number of times police officers fired and Walker was attacked. ..

The footage released by the police ended with a shootout of police officers and does not show what happened next. Police officers provided first aid and Walker could still be heard as having a pulse, but he was later declared dead, Millet said.

Millet refused to say whether the shooting was justified on Sunday, and if a policeman "made the most important decision in life" and fired at someone with a weapon, "gun" Cut off the barrel of the gun. "

A pistol, a loaded magazine, and an apparent wedding ring were found in the car seat. Later, a casing was found that matched the weapon in an area where police officers believed they fired from the vehicle.

State Attorney General Dave Yost has pledged a "complete, fair and professional investigation" by the Ohio Criminal Investigation Bureau, "wearing camera footage. Is just one view. " Of the big picture.

Akron police are conducting another internal investigation into whether police officers have violated departmental rules or policies.

Police officers involved in the shooting are on paid leave, which is the standard practice in such cases. According to the

department, seven police officers are white and one is black. Their years of service at Akron police ranged from one and a half to six years, and no one has a record of disciplinary action, proven complaints or fatal shootings, he said.

NAACP President Derrick Johnson said in a statement that Walker's death was "murder," not self-defense. Point blank.

Walker's family seeks peace as well as accountability, lawyers said. One of the lawyers, Bobby Dicello, called the police shootout explosion excessive and unreasonable, and said police handcuffed Walker before attempting first aid.

"The way we reached this by pursuit is beyond me." DiCello said.

Walker's family didn't know why he fled the police, he said. Walker was saddened by the recent death of his fiancé, but his family showed no further signs of concern, and Dicello said he was not a criminal.

"They want to turn him into a masked monster with a gun," Dicello said. "Ask him what makes sense because he's running away. Shoot him down. No, that's not rational."

The lawyer said, "Jayland came across the parking lot. I hope he remembers not being armed at the time, "he added.
