Naomi Olind is back in the fight for Season 8 of the "Southern Charms"

Southern CharmSeason 7 was a transitional season for the venerable Bravo franchise. The COVID-19 virus raged, the disgraceful Thomas Ravenel finally left the stage (only once), andNaomi Olinda multi-year relationship with fellow Charmer Craig Conover. Naomi left after the virus disappeared — and in the back of her hometown Charleston — , chasing her boyfriend Mettle Shah to New York City, where he was fooling her. I immediately noticed. She felt "betrayed" andshe returned to Charleston to pick up her debris.

When Season 8 of the Southern Charmbegins filming, the show's producers are popular and popular cast members (andclothing entrepreneurs. ) Was invited. Go back to the fight. After consulted with her ex-Craigand got his blessing, she accepted the invitation ... and soon became the center of action in the first few episodes of the show. I noticed.

Decider recently spoke to Naomi via Zoom and went back to reality TV to think about rekindling Craig and the flames (What happened in Las Vegas doesn't stop at Las Vegas. There is also). It's like being on the receiving side of a classic tantrum from Hurricane Kathryn Dennis.

DECIDER: You took the season from theSouthern charmDid you follow the show at all during your vacation, or did you follow the show at all? Was it free? Real life is too close.

Naomi Olind: Yeah, I didn't see it. I didn't think it was healthy to see it while I was trying to get away from it. But last season I watched it just before I started shooting. Leva thought, "You probably need to see this." So I made it bing just like before.

Yes, it was a turbulent season. A lot of turmoil both at the show, and certainly across the United States and the world. Reality shows have addressed these issues, but for many they are also an escape route. I know why I didn't see the Southern Charm, butSummer HouseorWinter Houseor one of them. Or, again, you seemed a little too close to it.

Yes, I think it's a bit strange to watch a reality show when shooting a reality show. It's a little difficult to explain. But yeah, I haven't actually watched any other shows. i don't know why Like I was certainly before, so I'm trying to remember like when I stopped. I used to loveNew York's Real House Wives, but yeah, it's a bit tapered.

Especially because I know how reality show sausages are made, so I understand. So one of the first shots of this new season is that you and Venita are in the car. In that clip, the idea of returning to Charleston seems a bit depressing. Given that it's been a year since I came back and there have been some changes, what do you think of Charleston now?

So I love it. I think it is the best city in the world. I think it was more of a situation than the actual place that I was talking about when I said "it seemed depressing". But yeah, I can't believe I was going to leave now. You can see what I was thinking (laughs)

Another part of the initial focus here is around the Vegas vacation. So I can ask what you were going to go to Las Vegas for. Just to have fun with friends.

I was just there with a group of friends. As you know, we said, "Oh, let's have a Las Vegas weekend. It's going to be fun." And yeah, that's just in line with some other trips. (Laughs)

How did you know that Craig was in town at the same time? During that time, were you sending or talking text messages? Did you see anything on social media? Las Vegas is a big city, but it's also a small town.

Yes, I'm trying to remember how to do it. It was probably through either Craig or Lever. i don't remember. That's a good question. yes. So this is now ancient history. So, somewhere, how did you find it a year ago? It seems very crazy.

I fully understand it. I can't even remember what I did yesterday. Another big through line here early in the season is the discussion of what went well with Craig. Shep and Austin are like trying to figure out where he is. Craig has really improved his life in so many ways, but what is your insight into how he has worked to become a writer and an entrepreneur?

Yeah. So I'm not close enough to give you a good answer anymore. But from my point of view, Craig is doing great and maintaining the relationship he wants to maintain . And you know, sometimes it means that other people will fall to the side of the road. And I ... I think he's doing his best for him. That's really good. So I don't know what that means to others, but I think he's doing great.

It's time to discuss the big "Great Catsby" 30th birthday party you were invited to. Did it make sense for Kathryn to ask you to apologize when you received the invitation? You really believed it was an olive branch, but how did it all go down? What was going through your heart?

I was really surprised. Kathryn has a pattern, so I should probably have seen it come. And this is one of her patterns — so I should have known. And I knew that going was probably not the best idea. It didn't work very well for me. I didn't know how terrible it would be. But yeah, that is, these are the kind of things we know about Kathryn, and I was surprised, but not so surprised.

You ... By the way, have you seen an episode?

Not all. No.

Oops.Photo: Bravo

Well, I thought the funny thing was that your name was misspelled on her cell phone. rice field.

Again, it's not surprising.

At the end of the episode, Kathryn gets up all on your grill. Especially in the midst of that moment, I thought you said something really insightful. You said to her, "I don't like your way of fighting." Can you tell me a little more about what that means?

Yeah. You remind me of my therapist. (Laughs) It's like "Tell me what you're feeling and thinking now." Well, this is something I didn't like about myself the previous year. And I think everyone has seen how I fight Craig. And looking back ... it was really hard to look back. [Shooting] It may have been difficult, but you can see that I didn't notice it until now. And I realized that I didn't like the way I fought. So I would tell him things here and there, and that wasn't true, but the message was lost in delivery. So it is impossible to communicate with anyone.

In other words, I remember Kathryn drinking a ton and I was drinking too. And it's not the time or place to make this like a super-loud battle. And when people know they're wrong, I think they can do some sort of double down and become more aggressive. And that was happening, but it was escalating very quickly. yes.

She is also really physically fighting. In other words, she's tall, not a blow. She is physically imposing and likes to intimidate her really like to use her own height.

Yes, that's right. She uses it to get into a person's face like her own body. And it can be very, as you know, just a mind-boggling thing. And that's obviously what she always does. But yeah, I didn't like it.

What is your relationship with other members of the recent cast?

For obvious reasons, Kathryn is the only one I don't talk to you. But everyone else is great.

Wow, it's interesting to know that you haven't talked yet. I think I shot the party last September or so.

Not as much as in certain situations. I think that's a big difference in personality. And like the difference in basic beliefs, you know. No ... yes, that's not really for one reason. It's like you're like me I'm like this For example, I'm not going to create a mesh. That's fine. If it's not good for you, I don't think you need to make friends with everyone.

This is the last one so far. Have you ever visitedSewing DownSouthsince returning to Charleston?

No, I haven't actually been there, but I'm also working on Shopify, so I got a little talk from Craig. Therefore, we may discuss Shopify. It looks like it's really going well.

The Southern Charm will air on Thursday night at 9pm EST in Bravos and will be streamed the next day on Peacock.
