But before we analyze the scene, let's take another look.
Fisher said that although the episode aired in September 2010, he said that screenwriter Danny Chun had decided to continue with Season 6. While watching a lot of rip dubs he explained that he thought of this idea before closing. "He thought, 'What I want to see is full of mistakes,'" Fisher said. "...for a while they forgot about the idea. But when it came time to pitch it in the season premiere, Danny brought it up again. The dub scene was written in one day, and was planned to travel from the parking lot through the warehouse to the office before logistical problems arose.The scene was shot as one long continuous take, spanning five trials. Later, we used a combination of the 4th and 5th runs:
"We cut when Angela slammed the door to Daryl's office. Then Phyllis danced." As the camera moved along and we headed over to Michael's office where he was performing magic tricks with his cane, I cut the whip and took four," Fisher said. "And when Andy yelled 'Streamers!', he would go back to take 5 and stay on take 5 until the end."

Kinsey shared that Shaw had the guidance of magician helper Amos Lefkovic, who was hiding behind the door of Michael's office, to preset his big flame tricks. Fisher said that aside from the spark, it only "gives Steve a bunch of silly tricks" that get him to improvise. She remembers that he liked the pigeons coming out of his magic wand, so Michael does it three times in that scene.
A rip dub is nothing without a song. The only song Chun considered for his opening this cold was "Nobody But Me." "He said he really wanted a song that was 'short, upbeat, fun to lip-sync and not too trendy,'" Fisher explained, adding that the show needed $50,000 to get the rights to the music.
She also said that the song really hit the set during filming, helping the cast achieve their goals and set the mood. The moves were "heavily choreographed" by Mary Ann Kellogg, and Kinsey shared that the scene was planned with a team of professional dancers, so timing was everything. , the cold open was an "all hands on deck" situation with dancers, assistant directors, production assistants, and magicians hiding around the office to give clues to the cast. The final cut was even more magical than a dove popping out of Michael's wand, so it was worth it in the end.
