October heats up: International series to stream on Showmax

The weather is getting warmer which means content on streaming services is heating up. This month, Showmax is gearing up for new series’ including season two of the Emmy-winning White Lotus. Here’s everything to expect in October.

‘THE WHITE LOTUS’ SEASON TWO 

The White Lotus season one was the biggest winner at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards in September. The series also won the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series Award. In season two of The White Lotus, the new group of vacationers are jetting off to Sicily, Italy for a relaxing vacation. 

Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Tanya, is the only returning actor in season two. The new cast is set to feature F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli, Aubrey Plaza, Tom Hollander, Meghann Fahy and Haley Lu Richardson. 

The White Lotus will begin streaming from 31 October.

‘THE REHEARSAL’ SEASON ONE 

The Rehearsal follows one man who will do anything to help people prepare for life. Nathan Fielder prepares them for the biggest moments in life by “rehearsing” everyday situations. The show has been praised by television critics and received a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 94%. 

The series will be available to binge from 10 October.

MINX’ SEASON ONE 

Set in the 1970s in Los Angeles, a young feminist (Ophelia Lovibond) teams up with a publisher (Jack Johnson) to create an erotic magazine for women. Following its success, HBO Max renewed the comedy series for season two.

P-VALLEY’ SEASON TWO 

The dancers of Dirty Delta return for season two of the award-winning drama, P-Valley. The Pynk strip club was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Uncle Clifford (Nico Annan) and Autumn Night (Elarica Johnson) have come up with an alternative, a drive-through car wash.

‘THE HANDMAID’S TALE’ SEASON FIVE 

The Handmaid’s Tale is adapted by Margaret Atwood’s classic novel of the same name. The series explores the lives of Handmaids, the few fertile women in the Gilead dystopian society. 

After getting her revenge at the end of season four, June (Elizabeth Moss) is now facing the consequences in season five while trying to redefine her identity and purpose. 

New episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale will be streaming every Thursday.

‘B POSITIVE’ SEASON TWO 

B Positive follows Drew (Thomas Middleditch), a therapist and recently-divorced father. He is looking for a kidney donor when he encounters Gina (Annaleigh Ashford), a woman from his past who offers to help him. 

Season two of the series kicks off after Drew has the kidney transplant. 

B Positive will be available to binge from 24 October.

‘A MILLION LITTLE THINGS’ SEASON FOUR 

A Million Little Things is about a group of friends who are motivated to live fuller lives after the unexpected death of their close friend. Actors David Giuntoli, Grace Park, James Roday Rodriguez and Lizzy Greene are returning for season two of the show. 

The series will be available to stream from 17 October.

‘RONJA, THE ROBBER’S DAUGHTER’

Narrated by Emmy-winning actress Gillian Anderson, Ronja, the Robber’s Daughter is an animated series based on a bestselling book by Astrid Lindgren. Ronja, a 10-year-old girl, is born into a group of robbers. She befriends the son of her father’s rival and together, they explore a forest.

‘BILLY THE KID’ SEASON ONE 

Billy the Kid is a romantic adventure series created by Michael Hirst. In the series, viewers follow Billy from his Irish roots and his early days as a cowboy to having a pivotal role in the Lincoln County War. 

The series will be available to binge from 24 October.

‘THE GAME’ SEASON ONE 

The Game is a reboot of the award-winning 2006 of the same name and looks at black culture through a pro football lens. Raquel Robinson, Hosea Chanchez, Adriyam Rae and Tim Daly from the original series return.
