Media personality Somizi “Somgaga” Mhlongo has been lauded by fans for his heart of gold. The Idols SA judge made one of his fan’s weekend super special when he took her out to the Luju Festival hosted in Eswatini this past weekend.
Eswatini-born Nompilo Dlamini is a well-known social media user who suffers from a life-threatening condition called cystic fibrosis.

According to Healthline, cystic fibrosis is a serious genetic condition that causes severe damage to the respiratory and digestive systems. This damage often results from a buildup of thick, sticky mucus in the organs. The most commonly affected organs include the lungs, pancreas, liver and intestines.

SOMIZI MAKES NOMPILO’S DAY
Taking to Twitter, 28-year-old Nompilo shared a screenshot of her conversation with the choreographer and singer on Friday 30 September. Somizi had asked if she was allowed to leave the house, given her condition, because he wanted her to accompany him to his cooking session on Saturday 1 October.

On Saturday she shared pics of herself and Somizi, saying she had a great day and although Somizi was visiting her country, she felt like the visitor because of well he took care of her.
NOMPILO’S JOURNEY
Somizi is not the first South African celebrity to show Nompilo with love.
In September 2021, reached out to rapper Cassper Nyovest to help her raise R2 million for a lung transplant in India. Following her tweet, Cassper pledged R150 000 and also pleaded with his fans to also donate under the hashtag #SaveNompilo.

A few months later, the young patient was on her way to India in the hope of getting a lung transplant, but it sadly didn’t happen because the injection that she needed for the operation to happen was not available in India.
Updating her followers, an emotional Nompilo said: “I might be going back home next week because the needed injection is not available here in India, which is part of the immunosuppressants that I am supposed to take. But, it is available in South Africa. But, at the same time, I don’t think I still have that will to take any more medication or to take any more chances of giving me hope to get help and keep on the fight.”
