You couldn’t write it: ANC demand apology for being called ‘corrupt’
We’re saying nothing! The ANC in Johannesburg has reacted furiously to claims made by the recently-ousted Mayor, Dr. Mpho Phalatse. In a statement issued yesterday, the DA representative called the party a ‘corrupt cabal’, following a bitter leadership dispute in the metro.
Phalatse was deposed as Johannesburg Mayor last week, following a controversial process. The DA has already mounted a legal challenge against the political upheaval, which returned control of the city back to the ANC, a little under a year after they lost it.
During her digital diatribe, Dr. Phalatse slammed ‘a corrupt few’ who forced her to vacate office. She branded her enemies as ‘a coalition of corruption’, lambasting them for disrupting her regional premiership.

Two alleged gangsters were shot and killed at a busy intersection by unknown suspects in Steenberg, Cape Town on Thursday, 6 October.
South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk said the shooting occurred at approximately 11:45 at the corner of Retreat Road and Prince George Drive in Steenberg.
The Steenberg police station is investigating a double murder and four attempted murder cases.

Young mother arrested after DUMPING baby girl with APOLOGY note
The mother who dumped her three-month-old baby girl with an APOLOGY note earlier this week was arrested for child abandonment.
Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram said the 23-year-old mother (name withheld) had been arrested for child Abandonment.

Part of stolen cooking oil recovered, R100k reward still up for grabs
The Willowton Group has confirmed that cooking oil stolen in one of its warehouses has been recovered.
It was reported that on the morning of Wednesday, 5 October 2022, an armed robbery took place at one of its off-site warehouses in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
According to the Willowton Group, robbers held up the staff at the facility and proceeded to load three trucks, which are understood to be stolen trucks, with substantial quantities of 2L Sunfoil Sunflower Cooking Oil.
