Victoria records no new cases of coronavirus, no deaths

Victoria has recorded no new cases of coronavirus and deaths in the past day and no further deaths.

On Sunday, Premier Daniel Andrews said he could not yet make further announcements about easing restrictions in Melbourne, until authorities were confident the northern suburbs outbreak was under control.

Health officials were awaiting the results of thousands of unprocessed tests before taking further steps.

More than 1100 tests came back negative from the outbreak in Melbourne's northern suburbs by Sunday evening. On Monday morning, Victoria's testing commander Jeroen Weimar said more test results from the outbreak were all showing negative.

"We did another 2,000 or so tests yesterday in the northern suburbs, and I'm pleased to say we've got results rolling in this morning," Mr Weimar told ABC News Breakfast.

"All the results we've had back so far are all negative and that's a really, really positive sign, and on the back of a lot of hard work yesterday and over the weekend, we've got a busy day ahead of us today to really go and make sure that we go through all of the results.

"Probably a little bit more testing here and there, but at the moment, we're feeling that we're getting a good grip on this one, and we should have more to say by the end of the day."

Meanwhile, the family at the centre of a Melbourne northern suburbs coronavirus cluster says the Department of Health and Human Services cleared them to leave their homes two days before one of their children unwittingly attended school while infectious, and did not expressly warn that the young boy should remain in isolation.

The family told The Age that the department had sent an email that said: "Your family has met the Department of Health and Human Service's (sic) criteria to end isolation".
