A seven-year-old boy was killed after a train ran over him in Dhaka's Moghbazar Wireless area this afternoon (August 8, 2022).
The deceased was identified as Md Shamim, a first grader at a local school who was living in a nearby slum with his family, police said.

As he ran to railway tracks suddenly, a Tejgaon-bound train from Kamalapur Railway Station hit him, leaving him critically injured, said the boy's aunt Moriyam Begum.
On information, his relatives from the slum took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 1:30pm, she said.
Shamim was eldest son of a day labour Rubel Hossain and house help Taslima Akter.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, confirmed the incident and said the body was sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
