Commerce minister urges Mexican businesses to invest in Bangladesh

Highlighting various development initiatives of the government, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has urged Mexico to explore economic opportunities in Bangladesh.

The minister made the call while addressing a seminar titled, "Unleashing Economic Potential: Bridging Bangladesh and Mexico", as the chief guest. The event was held at the San Ignacio de Loyola Auditorium of Iberoamericana University yesterday, said a press release.

The Bangladesh embassy in Mexico City, in collaboration with Iberoamericana University, hosted the seminar.

Tipu spoke about Bangladesh's recent economic progress and described various initiatives undertaken by the present government.

Presenting a keynote paper, Additional Secretary to the commerce ministry Abdur Rahim Khan talked about the favorable trade and commerce landscape in Bangladesh.

He invited Mexican investors to explore the diverse opportunities in Bangladesh's 100 special economic zones.

Dr Aribel Contreras Suarez, coordinator of the Department of International Trade at Iberoamericana University, shared valuable insights into Mexico's economic perspective and identified potential areas of cooperation.

During the interactive session, students inquired about Bangladesh's recent economic trends and its remarkable strides towards achieving MDGs. They also wanted to know more about the proactive initiatives addressing SDGs.

Ambassador Abida Islam moderated the seminar, which was attended by about 125 students, among others.
