A 24-year-old was arrested last night in a case filed over the rape and murder of a 10th grader, while trying to flee to India, at the Boichona border area of Satkhira Sadar upazila.
The accused rapist, Partho Mandal of Debhata upazila, was arrested by members of the Debhata police and the Detective Branch, reports our Satkhira correspondent quoting Inspector (investigation) Farid Ahmed of Debhata Police Station.

The 16-year-old victim's father in the case statement mentioned that Partho used to make advances on his daughter and even sent a marriage proposal.
"On Thursday evening around 6:30pm, Partho sent a text message on the victim's phone and asked her to meet. Later, he along with his friends raped and strangled her to death.The victim's body was found in a garden by the river by locals on Friday morning after she went missing on Thursday," said Farid.
"During primary interrogation, Partho admitted to killing the girl after raping her," said the inspector.
