Egypt Imposes Visa Fees on Bahrainis and Gulf Nationals

Bahrain Mirror: The Egyptian authorities decided to impose entry visa fees on GCC nationals as of today. This move comes at a time Cairo is experiencing an economic crisis, as a result of the new Coronavirus outbreak.

The Egyptian Minister of Interior, Mahmoud Tawfiq, issued a decision to collect entry visa fees from citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait, and the Sultanate of Oman) in addition to Qatar, whose citizens have been paying visa fees since 2017.

The decision did not specify the value of the fees the GCC national will have to pay in return for the visa. However, Egypt has imposed $25 fees for non-exempted visitors for the tourist visa for one trip and $60 for several trips.

Tourists coming to the country on direct flights to the cities and resorts of 3 tourist governorates, South Sinai, Matrouh and the Red Sea, until October 31, 2020, will be exempted from entry visa fees, the Egyptian minister directed.
