Police are questioning a 14-year-old student in connection with the stabbing of a student of Doris Johnson Senior High School.
The victim, who is also 14, was walking with a group of friends on Fox Hill Road on Tuesday around 3 p.m. when another teen, who was on a bus, stabbed him in the upper body, police said.
The Nassau Guardian understands that he was stabbed in the heart.
He was taken to hospital and was last listed in critical condition.
Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings said yesterday that police are very concerned about the increase in violence among students.
“Conflicts will always be present,” she said.
“Conflicts are a natural part of life. If they are handled properly, conflicts can actually take you to another level in your maturity.
“I need you to stop and think about it. Stop, think and then react. In your reaction, consider what are going to be the consequences.”
Since school reopened, police have reported three stabbing incidents involving students.
The first was on September 5 when two 14-year-old boys reportedly stabbed another student at D.W. Davis Junior High School.
On September 12, a student at Anatol Rodgers Senior High School stabbed another student.
