Belize Jaguars Ready to Roar Against the Guatemalans in the CONCACAF Nation’s League

Tickets are sold out as the F.F.B.’s national ‘a’ team, the Belize Jaguars, goes head-to-head with the Guatemalan national team in the CONCACAF Nation’s League. It’s the home game for team Belize and for weeks, the team has been sharpening its skills to take down the Guatemalan footballers. Back in June of last year, Belize lost in a two-nil finish in Guatemala and tonight, they will use the home field advantage in an effort to come out victorious. Team Manager Ian Jones says that tonight, we’ll hear the roar of the jaguars at the F.F.B. Stadium.

“Luckily for us this time around, the PLB has been running at a very high level and so what we did was a hybrid workout system where we bring the players into camp two to three days a week depending on the PLB schedule. So we have been doing that for the past ten weeks. That’s for the locally based players and to compliment that, we’ve brought in nine foreign-based players. It is the first time we’ve had so many foreign-based players.  This basically is a revamp of the national team. You will see a lot of new young faces. The whole idea behind that is the rebuilding of the team starts now because we are about to move into a next World Cup qualifying cycle, as well as a Gold Cup qualifying cycle over the next two-year period. So we are rebuilding the team now with these young players; we still have a couple veteran players – but it is just a transition stage that we are going through but these players, I am excited every time I watch them play and I think the public, everybody who comes out to watch the game will be amazed by the level that these players are playing.”

If you were unable to get your ticket, you can tune in right here on Channel Five and watch the play-by-play of the game from the comfort of your homes. The game begins at eight p.m. sharp.
