Saldivar steps up bid for party leader – appoints Shary Medina as head of Women’s Brigade

By Aaron Humes: By Facebook announcement this morning, candidate for leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), John Saldivar, said that San Ignacio/Santa Elena Town Councilor, Shary Medina, has joined his campaign as coordinator of the Saldivar for Leader Women’s Brigade.

The Minister for National Security and Belmopan area representative  heaped praise on his associate: “Shary is an extremely dynamic, energetic, and respected leader within our Party. Welcome on board Shary!”

In a comment below the post, councilor Medina responded to her boss and fellow Belmopan councilor Jacklyn Burns: “Thank you… I am happy to be on board and I am ready! I will definitely add you. Let’s do this!”

A campaign flyer posted with the announcement states the organization’s chief aims: “to (spread) the message of new hope, new vision and new leadership;” and to campaign and advocate for women’s issues on the campaign trail.

Those who wish to join may contact Medina at 615-0433 or on Facebook via the “Saldivar for Leader” page.
