An Abbotsford man has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly holding down a man on the tracks in the path of an incoming train car.
Officers were called to an active rail line along Gladys Avenue and Essendene Ave. at around 10:50 p.m. Tuesday for a man being held by another man in front of an approaching rail equipment car, said the Abbotsford Police Department.

The quick-acting operator hit the emergency brakes and managed to bring the car to a halt just short of the victim.
The suspect fled the scene, but was arrested by officers. Edward Mackenzie, 47, has been charged with attempted murder.
The victim was shaken but not injured, said police.
