Alouettes give Blue Bombers their first loss in 22 years, losing in a wild OT finish

The Montreal Alouettes delivered their first loss of the season to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a close 20-17 victory on Thursday.

Marc Rieggio bounced his goal attempt off the uprights on his 37-yard field in overtime, sealing a loss for the Bombers. This was Lieggio's second consecutive mistake after he failed to convert a potential 32-yard game-winner in the final seconds of regulation.

Winnipeg entered the contest

Montreal's Trevor Harris completed 18-of-27 passes for 213 yards without a touchdown or interception. Both Alouettes touchdowns were punched in by Dominique Davis.

The bombers outnumbered Alouettes by 369 to 283 yards and outnumbered their opponents by 118 to 70. Winnipeg running back Brady Oliveira rushed for 84 yards to gain his yards, and quarterback Zach Corralos gave him one touchdown as he threw for 251 yards.

Winnipeg had beaten Montreal on the road the previous week 35-20. The Bombers will enjoy a goodbye before resuming their schedule on August 25 against the Calgary Stampeders.
