The Houston Astros placed infielder Aredomis Diaz on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with discomfort in his left groin.
J.J. Matijevic was recalled from Triple-A Sugarland in a corresponding move and White joined the Astros in Chicago for his final two games of the series against the Sox.
Diaz, 32, was injured Tuesday night while playing left field. After chasing a deep fly ball to end the third inning, he ended the game and was replaced by Chas McCormick. 252 with 10 homers and 32 RBIs in his 78 games this season.
Matijevich, 26, spent most of the season at Sugar Land, batting .289 with 12 homers and 39 RBIs in 50 games. He appeared in his 26 games for his parent club, but he only went 10-for-53 (.189) with two homers and four RBIs.
