Cleveland Browns sent a quarterback to the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday for a conditional fifth round draft topic in 2024, completing an expected divorce from former No. 1 overall pick baker Mayfield. ..

The barrier to Mayfield's potential deal with Carolina was money, and Mayfield planned to make $ 18.8 million in his fifth-year option. However, the NFL Network has reported that all parties will work together to make it work. Browns pays Mayfield about $ 10.5 million and Panthers receives about $ 5 million.
Mayfield has agreed to reduce the remaining $ 3 million or more from his payments.
