Chicken truck collision delays traffic on Rymal Road in Hamilton early Friday morning

A truck carrying chickens overturned on a road east of Hamilton Friday morning, blocking traffic for hours, police said.

The incident occurred around 8:00 am on Rymal Road East and Terryberry Road when a vehicle attempted to turn.

"The truck was about to turn in the driveway when two tires burst, and the truck overturned," Hamilton Police spokesman Jackie Penman told Global News. told by email.

"All chickens remained in cages, and the company helped move the animals from one truck to another onsite."

The top was ripped off and a plastic chicken crate was deposited on the road.

No one was injured, but it is unknown if any birds were injured or killed.
