Delayed a year and a half by the pandemic, Hamilton will play at the NAC in January

National Arts Centre

The Broadway mega-hit Hamilton, which was to have played the National Arts Centre in the spring of 2020, will be presented in a full-capacity Southam Hall in early January next year.

“To say that we are overjoyed would be an understatement,” said Shana Levin, vice-president of Broadway Across Canada, which is presenting the award-winning musical. Hamilton will be Broadway Across Canada’s first touring show in Ottawa since March 2020 and will start its three-week run on Jan. 4, Levin said in a release.

Levin’s release Friday came on the heels of Ontario’s announcement it will soon lift COVID-19 capacity restrictions. Other pandemic safety measures will be in force for the presentation of Hamilton, including proof-of-vaccination checks for audience members 12 years old and older and identification verification for those 19 and older. Masks must be worn by those two years old and older at all times except when they are eating and drinking. More information on safety measures is available at ottawa.broadway.com/health.
